Update: M1k3y has a semi-clean bill of health. The majority of the problem is hereditary, but waking every morning next to a newly empty fifth was exacerbating the issue. A rather simple solution he has taken quite well to in the past week, from what I hear. I'll see him this weekend. We all need to get together soon.
