View Full Version : Brakes?

So I was leaving my apt complex and noticed a loud metal on metal sound. I inspected the rotors but couldn't see any obvious sign of metal on metal contact. So I get going again and the noise seemed to subside. It was like a continuous screetching noise. Anyhow I drive around the block to see if it'll do it again and I somewhat notice the noise when I'm turning; it would come on somewhat. And then when I was slowing down to a stop it would start screetching again like a loud POS, and then I'd hit the brakes and of course it would only get audibly worse. It's been a while since I've last did my pads, but I don't recall the car making this much damn noise when the pads were needing replacement last time. But it definately made the noise worse when i hit the brakes.
Thinks it's just the pads needing to be replaced? I'm gonna go drop the car off at the dealership tomorrow.

Hmmm well a wheel bearing couldn't be much more expensive seeing how it costs $500 to do the stupid pads... :(

if u drive and it screetch, and when u brake theres no sound, its the pads. the pads have this metal piece to it to warn you when your pads are low. it happened to me couple weeks ago. easy fix

Sounds like the pad indicators. For now, just pull the wheel off and bend the indicators back (that would be the metal thing grinding into the rotor), then order new pads. And don't pay fucking $500 for brakes... that's completely ridiculous! Disc brakes are so fucking easy to do that it's just silly to pay someone (unless his name is Tobi, of course :D ). Order some Axxis Ultimates, Hawk HPS / HP+, or Cobalt GT Sports from http://www.CobaltFriction.com

There was one time in my GSR when I got a pebble stuck between the rotor and the dust shield. My car sounded so bad.
