One of my buddies in HS had a brother in who was a sherrif..anyway, he had a ruger match .22 pistol with a surpressor on it...we popped off an entire clip into a stack of phone books with a police officer litterally on the other side of a small restraunt..scary how quiet it was. Of course, it was only a .22..but damn...couldnt hear a THING except the bullet *thwap* into the phone books..freaky.

Bolt actions are even more quiet because there is no receiver/bolt to cycle.
tink...tink...tink...

Damnit Tobi!
Now I want one and I have other things to spend my money on! More "important" things!
*EDIT* Don't know if he announced what distance or wind he was dealing with... but that MF*r had some nice grouping going on!
Very impressive!
I'll have to watch the rest later!

I literally have to look the other way while driving by Specialty Sporting Goods (fire-arms dealer) cause I KNOW I'd spend money if I went in! It's like going to Apex Sports (Motorcycles) or Winslow BMW!
Hang out at the barber shop long enough.... you gonna get a hair-cut!

We live in (or atleast I do) one of the (if not THE) largest military cities in the U.S.
EVERY day should be Armed Forces day!
Why don't more companies offer military discounts here? WTF?

It's because no suppressor can silence something that's super-sonic... it's supposed to be able to quiet an AR-15 down to the sound of a high-velocity .22 LR round, but if you want it real quiet, you need sub-sonic ammo.

Pistols are fun.... but for some reason I enjoy getting my accuracy down at long range more!
Something to do with accomplishing a goal!
It's the simplistic, barbaric side of men isn't it!
I am man.... you will NOT hear my rifle!

On the other hand - one of my favorite things to do when playing paintball was to wear a white t-shirt with a big red logo or picture on the front or back (had a favorite Dead Kennedy's shirt - makes a great target.) My auto-cocker has to be one of the loudest markers I have ever fired. I could scare people away just from the sound alone! hehe. The point: making yourself a target can be lots of fun and make a game much more interesting. Its like playing poker with someone who never looks at their cards - everyone freaks out for some reason. ;NutKick;
Using real ammo - I would have to be psychotic to try that, but it sure would make tactics more important than what sort of gun youre shooting. BTW, I dont know if that was a rhetorical question or not - have yet to sleep... but

Tactics. You dont need a suppressor or a .50cal if you can kill with a knife or your hands.
How many firefights do we see in the US where a sniper rifle has ever been of use (outside of a serial killer / assassin)? It seems to me investing in a good gas-mask, shotgun and solid sidearm is a better idea, heh. Well, thats assuming youre packing for protection and home defense, not 'big game hunting.' If all hell breaks loose or I know im going to run into a bear or lion, yeah, i'll grab the AR first. :)

They are not as bad in person. Smaller than the G, a little busier. I want to shoot it before I commit to buy it.

Heh, when I played with teams of marines or against tourney teams I would use my vented barrels - but around noobs or advanced players I would often use the crappy stock barrel. I couldnt believe how loud that thing is. It was by chance that I even used it at all. Great for pulling people to your position, or holding one when the other team knows exactly who is over there somewhere - then avoid an entire side of a the field. hehe. Then we found that 3-4 guys with stock barrels on their 'cockers firing at the same time can be quite terrifying if you were not prepared for it, I dont know of many people that have been in that situation, so it worked great every once in a while - got lots of flags, but really we just liked the wall of sound we made - when we could all get our markers working at the same time anyway. heh.
