I was on my way home from Home Depot yesterday, and got next to a modded 1.8t gti at a stoplight. The kid behind the wheel would roll foward, roll back, roll forward, roll back etc. I looked over to see who was behind the wheel, had idea who it was, but it was obvious that he wanted to run the legacy.

Well, AWD > FWD. For the first time since I've owned the LGT I launched the car, backed off a bit & waited for him to get traction, and then proceeded to stomp him into the ground.

When I say modded 1.8t, all I saw was a big fart can, wheels & tires, lowered, blackout tint on a silver gti. Whether it had any power mods is questionable, as the LGT walked it so easily.

The LGT launched damn nice from 4k rpm w/a bit of burning clutch. :)

The only mod on my car is a hallman MBC - I upped boost from 12psi to 15psi.

Nice..... but I hope you don't run into any problems with that MBC.

If this is the newest LGT (2.5) then it could cause problems.

I miss my LGT.......

Thanks - it was fun to actually launch the sucker. I'm suprised how a 4k launch felt, esp compared to the 6500 rpm launches I used to do in my DSMs.

JL - I'm keeping boost under the fuel cut threshold, so no problems. The stock fuel delivery system can't be maxed out by the stock turbo, even if it were no wastegate. Plugs look good, no codes stored in the ECU, and the car is pretty happy @ 15psi. The ECU is quite good at 'self preservation', and will let me know if I step over the line. *grin*

And I've done this a couple times before, so I'm not averse to playing around w/the motor. ;)

Bad MBC? The LGTs have the same injectors as the STI and with a smaller stock turbo, the injectors wont even go near 90% IDC up to even 20psi.

Nice..... but I hope you don't run into any problems with that MBC.

I miss my LGT.......

I musta been informed wrong then (forum based).

I was told that the injectors are different and have to be modded or replaced to run even an 18G.

I was told by someone who tunes them on a regular basis that running an MBC could cause serious problems. That it's best to use the software.

That's just was I was informed... by those who've been through it.

So how fast do you think the car is on 15 psi John?

Really really slow, Stu. :) A pal has loaned me an accelerometer, but I've not played with it yet.
