mph--71.54
1000--12.716
1/4--15.196:eek:
mph--91.36
my other runs were from 15.3's to 15.6's and one really crappy 17.3, car was in limp mode or something:confused:
I am very happy with my times. now the mods can begin
;)

well if it is stock congrats!! sweet time...but you must have the fastest one on earth...you sure your not chhipped???
Did you have traction control on to get that 2.2 60'? I can barley get below a 2.4 on a good run. I am pretty sure that is what is killing me.......

I thought it was high 14's to low 15's from the forums I was just on. Either you got a chip or a wednesday motor ;)
I was racing Jeff 1st run of the day.
I have to admit, I figured I would be a ways ahead for most of the track but a really big gust of wind ran into Jeff's hatch and pushed him half way down the track.
No seriously, If thats really stock:eek:
My best time of the afternoon
rt .808
60' 1.878
330 5.801
1/8 9.032
mph 76.81
1000 11.841
1/4 14.202
mph 96.14
He also lost one run to a new mustang gt by maybe a tenth of a sec. You have something done to that dont you:confused:

yep im still stock. you will know when im chipped:cool:
my car does come with traction control(asr) but i turn it off when drag racing cause if it detects any wheel slipping it will cut back power.
I hooked up really good that run, the rest were 2.4 and 2.5 60', I really need some better tires anyways.

so you never got your 13? anyways I could have had the mustang but i spun most of first. :( I ran a 15.51 to his 15.34
only thing that is different between my car and a factory car is I ran without the spare tire.:)
Tyler with that new jetta 1.8t is running 14.9- 15.2
he has an apr chip, intake and exhaust.
If you really are stock you just smoked every other stock gti on earth.

the 2001 and 2002 have different gear ratios, maybe thats part of it

you have a boost gauge?
02GTI1.8t
05-16-2002, 12:16 AM
nope, when I get a vag-com Ill be able to see how much boost Im running. should be 11 psi at the most though
How much is a new gti 1.8t?
02GTI1.8t
05-16-2002, 12:29 AM
I got mine with every available option (17" wheels, heated leather sets, etc...) for $22,000 after taxes. I think the striped models go for 18-19

what is awp, i see that on vw boards a lot.......
02GTI1.8t
05-16-2002, 12:36 AM
awp is the engine code for the 2002 models.
2000's are awd- 150hp
2001's are aww-150hp, different compression ratios, variable cam timing(moslty for emission purposes)
2002's awp-180 hp more boost, a little better exhaust, some other small things

I think it was all in his 2.2 60' he got on his first run. The sun was beating on the track for about a half hour before anybody ran. The groove was REALLY sticky, I ran right after him and bogged becuase of it too get my first horrible 60' of 2.5. But I "think" that was the key element there... plus it was his first run so his car was probably a little cooler (we had to wait about 45 minutes for the track to dry).

yeah I am thinking it was in the 60' too, I should be able to hit those 2.2's(hopefuly better) now that i have drag radials...cant wait to see what I can do with them. Also I am going to get some of the little fuel tuning bugs out of the way until I can get my EMS tuned.....

Jettas are heavier cars, ever think of that? BTW, for those of you that don't know, german cars WAY underrate their HP and TQ numbers... real world performance is usually quite a bit better than you would expect.

it was all in the 60'. I just hooked up on that run. I was about the 5th car to go after they opened it up. My car was 3015 lbs with me in it.

If you guys are really curious, we could always hook up the vag and datalog calculated torque. VW and Audi ECU's have calculations built into them that are fairly accurate in stock ECUs. Kinda like a poor mans road dyno. The other thing to keep in mind is that these are Drive-by-wire cars and the ECU actually controls throttle position in order to control torque. Thats why these cars have completely flat torque curves from a wide rpm range. They basically hold torque through a range by controlling throttle position and timing. Gives the car a smooth powerband, but is not optimal for performance. But on the other hand, it may compensate by allowing more boost to achieve the requested torque values that the ECU is looking for. Shouldn't make a big difference at altitude, but it might...

my time is alot faster than i expected it would be. I went up just hoping fof 15's and then I ran that on my first run. this car just keeps exceding my expectations.
951 porsche, do you have a vag-com? if so it would be great to do that "dyno" and check boost, etc..Im hoping to get one here soon.l

Nice run man...that is a increadable time for a bone stock 1.8t. When I ran my 14.8 i weighed in at 3025 with me in it. I thought your car weighs like 400 pounds less than the jetta. I wish I could hit 60' times like that. My best 60' is a 2.315. Did you have a killer back wind or something? cause like I said over in the COstreetracing thread, my friend terry with his 2002 gti ran a best time of 15.4 with boost controller(14.5psi), techtonics exhaust, and intake. That time is remarkable. We should get together and race sometime. Are you going to vwotg on sunday? I thought the only diff between the 01' and 02' was chip and turbo inlet pipe? I have raced many slightly moded 02's(exhaust) on the street and beat them by alot each time. What did you launch at when you hit the 15.1? I launch at around 4k. Brandon(nolimitsoldier) told me that a few hundred 02's came from the factory with 210 hp. These were going to be the 337 engines but they decided against it and let these gti's slide. Maybe this is what happened to you and you got realy lucky?

I think GTI's only weight 100lbs less than jettas. My car hooked up on that run. I held it at about 3000rpms and then jsut released the clutch pretty fast , I got very little wheel spin and then just took off. Maybe i got one of those engines who knows, all I know is its more than 180hp.
Im down to race almost any night. Im gonna try to make vwotg, what time does it start?

vwotg starts at 9:00 on sunday at arapahoe community college. I can't wait to go...there will be so many pimped out dubs up there.

Thats an amazing time for a car that weighs 3000lbs and claims and claims less than 200hp. How much torque do those put down in stock form?
My car weighs about 2650 w/ me in it and the best I have mustered at Bandimere is several 15.9's, thats stock w/ 195hp/130lbs-ft. of torque.
I'm not calling BS in any way, but that may be a "once in a stock lifetime run"
I've raced two Jetta's(pre '02) that were both chipped and they pulled a car on me pretty hard then I started inching back up by the top of 3rd gear. So I'm assuming both of them, best case scenario, are running mid 15's at Bandi.

When my 1.8t was bone stock at came with 155lbs. of torque. I'm not sure what awp's are but I think Its like 180lbs.. I spoke with a few guys at vw's on the greens and they said that the best they could pull out of thier awp's bone stock was 15.7 and 15.9. One guy had a awp jetta with three inch exhaust and three inch down pipe and moded air box...he said his best time was15.2.
I ordered the atp three inch down pipe today and it will be in my car tomorrow because i'm overnighting it. I'll prob. be up at test and tune on wed. or et series on friday. I'm hopeing for a 14.4-6. I am going to run the test pipe with no cat and joel from rs motorsports dynoed his with the 3 inch down pipe with no cat and he got 24.2 horses too the wheels!!!

sounds good:Beer:
I think you will get 14.6 or 14.7 with these mods because 24 hp probably isnt worth a half second in the 1/4
good luck!

I seriously starting to think my car is a "factory freek" or something with that time. I dont think it was a once in a life time thing cause all my other runs of the night were from 2 15.3's 2 15.4's my slowest of the day (besides the limp mode run) was 15.7 which seems to be what other stock 02's are running

hopefully after a couple paychecks. Now im deciding if I should get suspension first with an exhaust and try to get a 14 with out a chip or jsut get the chip and run 14's

Get a chip and see what you run...btw chips work alot better with an upgraded exhaust...you should save up for a chip and exhaust. Maybe your car came with an apr chip and you didn't know it?heheh...I can't wait for my downpipe!!!

maybe the chip fairy came one night and gave me an apr chip.:D
I will prob go chip cause its about the same price as an exhaust and you get alot more hp out of it.

not sure about exhaust. The FM 3" seems good but ive heard of problems with not fitting right. also some say 3" is too big. Maybe the apr 2.5" exhaust in hopes of a future stage 3 upgrade:D not really sure yet. Im pretty sure im gonna get the apr chip though..
