Here is some "education" for you... http://streetracing.tiora.net/japan/drift/drift1.htm
You see... you need to put the clutch in, rev it up, and dump it in the middle of a turn, mysthern-style.

I just saw this on Honda-Tech...
drifting is the fastest way out threw a turn since no speed is loss compared to grip where you have to slow down entering and floor it leaving.
He posted that in a thread in the Road Racing / Autocross forum, so needless to say he got made fun of pretty badly. He drives a "89 240sx SE with Redtop SR20DET", so I suppose that alone should tell people everything they need to know about him.

Drifting really CAN be the fastest way around a corner, it just depends on the corner.
That's why rally drivers do it

rally drivers do it just because it looks cool

Yeah, WRC drivers just do everything for looks.. they're a bunch of ricers :p
Or maybe drifting around a corner can be the fastest way around it. Just think about it :)

Dirt/gravel/snow have very different properties and that's why it works there. Doing it on pavement is nothing but slow.

i've wondered why they do drift a lot of the corners actually, I understand why they do it on dirt/gravel/snow. But they do the same things on tarmac/super special events, what gives?

Yeah, pretty much. Sure is fun though
Edit: What the hell is that article? "The docks which is a very popular drifting spot is about half a mile from a police station "? I guess they quit measuring distance in kilometers there, and there's only one police station in Japan. THE MORE YOU KNOW :gay:
