Most VCU's are non-servicable sealed units, what car is it for?

Isuzu VCs usually break at a certain weld. Some people have sleeved the housing to strengthen the welded area.

Call Rocky Mountain Driveline off of 44th and Tennyson. They will tell you if it can be built or not.

its for a 1989 vw golf. its a european car. "they" say that these cars can only handle about 300whp before the vc gives out and you are stuck with fwd. so just trying to find options to upgrade it

yeah its a 1989 Rallye Golf, they are sweet. come factory wide body and other cool stuff, not to mention they are awd. just need to firgure out how to get more than 300whp to the ground. because 300whp as fun as it will be is not enough

You could always pull the VCU out and weld the center diff; sure it'll make turning a bitch, but you'll never break the VCU :D

Is the VCU interchangable with the USDM units? If so and you do end up breaking it, you can a whole donor tranny from a junkyard for like $50, you'll never have any trouble finding replacements at pull-n-save ;)

No? Well then shit.
I have no idea about anything VW, if you can find a common interchangable VCU available at your local junkyard, just rock it til you break it. If there are no feasible alternatives, I'd weld that center diff up if you break it.

Actually I take that back, there were no awd golfs.
There were syncro quantum wagons... and according to to oldschool synco fox wagons.
I cant say anything about interchangability though, I have no idea on that.

Also, Vanagons had Synchro. Those might have the beefiest units.
