How many of you guys have ordered your front mount CAI's from Aerospeed yet? Available from your latest JCW catalouge, (which by the way seems to focus more on looks with every new issue) Mine's already in the mail!! J/K.

Actually, I don't think that is such a bad idea. I just don't dig impersonating an FI car. Besides, everyone knows that faking it sucks.

I've heard pretty good things about them when they first came out. Haven't really heard how they hold up now...

its not really impersonating a fi car, its red, and anyone that would use an intercooler that small must be on crack. but it seems like it would give a little boost, especially at higher speeds

It is super ricey, but seems like a good idea. My thought was that the filter would need to be cleaned ALL the time.

the filter would get soaked in rain or snow.

so you get a bypass valve, not too hard, but thats a good point, cleaning that thing would get old

I figured that it would get pretty dirty as well.

Not to mention that it would get nailed with rocks constantly. I also read that the piping on that thing has too many bends to be efficent.

there is a plexiglass plate you can mount on the front of it, so it sucks in from the rear. That's your bypass right there, and it keeps the rain, snow, and rocks out of it, but then you'll be taking that thing on and off all the time.

wouldnt putting that plate on the front keep some air flow out of it? Seems like too many bends would slow the air down. I'll go with Injen CAI w/ ARMbypass any day. Who do you think puts more R & D into their products; Injen or ARoSpeed?

think the bypass valves are a waste of money. I have driven my car with teh CAI on it thorugh puddles after and during hard rainds and never had a single proble. If you see a puddle that is deep enough to cause problem STAY THE HELL AWAY from it.......

cheap form of insurance, maybe one time you wont be able to avoid the puddle

CAI=Cold Air Intake :)

It wouldn't be such a bad setup if it were ram air, but it isn't so you are not going to get more performance regardless of what speed your driving. The other problem I see is as everyone else has stated. It would get very dirtly very fast. Not a bad idea, but needs some more development.
