that's what i've been hearing, i don't know if theyll get around to it though, if so i need to stock up. mini-30, ak, sks, here i come.

I remember reading something about the ATF banning the import of a bunch of 7.62x39 steel core ammo a few years ago because it is armor piercing and can be used in AK-pistols, since armor piercing ammo is only legal for rifles. I'm not sure what the outcome of that was, but you can still get 7.62x39... it's just a little harder to come by. There are also AR-pistols nowadays, but I haven't heard anything about restrictions on .223/5.56 because of it... not even M855.

7.62's are "terrorist" ammunition, i think that was the reason they said ban.
