Sorry if this is noob but I am at a loss. So my clutch grabs right at the top of the pedal and I barely have to press it in to shift. It started to do that after my swap. I have bled the system several times it has a rand new clutch in it.

My concern is that I am still using the D-series slave cylinder and the shift fork for the B16A tranny barely fits on it. Is this the source of my problem is there a big difference between the B-series slave cylinder and the D-series? Or do I adjust the pedal itself? I havent adjusted the pedal yet because I still have to push the clutch pedal all the way in to start the car its just when I shift is when it grabs at the top of the pedal. As always any and all help is greatly appreciated thanks guys!

You have to push it all the way in to start the car because of a safety feature.. it will always be like that. Assuming you have a cable tranny, there should be an adjustment nut to adjust the cable somewhere near the tranny.

I have the same problem, except I have a hyrdraulic tranny in my d16z6...

Nope hydro Tranny OBD1 B16A. Yeah if it were cable I could adjust but I got a hydro. Thanks for explaining the saftey feature I had no idea maybe I do just need to adjust the pedal.

Does anyone know if there is a difference between the D16Z6 Slave Cylinder and the B16A's?

I can't help on the B16 but I know of a couple B18 swaps using the stock slave and they aren't like you mentioned. I don't really think there is an adjustment for a hydro clutch in terms of where it grabs, the only thing you can adjust is the height of the pedal when it is not pushed down.

I'm sure Tobi would know right away.

Personally I'd just get used to it. That's what I did with my Si clutch when I replaced it. It only had to be pushed in like a 1/2" to engage/disengage completely. Did you put in a new pressure plate as well?

Yeah everything new as far as the clutch goes. I'll ask Tobi I just want to make sure I am not missing anything before I adjust the pedal cause I hate doing it lol!

Well keep in mind with a new pressure plate, those fingers are going to be much stiffer and obviously will engage a lot quicker than such an old clutch.

I think with the omni quick-clutch thing you can adjust the engagement point but I'm not sure

i dont believe adjusting the pedal will do you any good.

Well keep in mind with a new pressure plate, those fingers are going to be much stiffer and obviously will engage a lot quicker than such an old clutch.

he is complaining of it not engaging right away. he said he has to let the pedal out almost all the way before it engages. it is acting like an old worn clutch.

is it a stock replacement or upgraded?

i have also used D-series slave cylinders on a LS tranny and LS tranny's will have the same shift fork as a B16 tranny (i am pretty sure anyways). so i dont think that is your problem.

It is an OEM replacement for a 94-97 Del Sol Vtec with a B16A it should match up. Hmmm I might have to take it apart becuase it is starting to bug me pretty bad. Since it grabs right at the top it feels like it isnt grabbing all the way. Makes me sad lol.

I had the same problem on the CRX but being a cable tranny it was pretty easy to fix. Look into the omnipower cylinder. I hear a lot of good thing about it.

Yeah I dunno I dont want to rip the whole thing apart again I was just wanting to see if there was something I was missing. Lol this is the one case that I wish I had a cable tranny lol.

So I was going through the helms for the clutch stuff and I was wondering could the release bearing have anything to do with it. Seeing on how I have a new clutch?

Uh, ok. My stock spec clutch in the Si was the same exact way and it lasted 30k miles and handled 14 psi til it started finally slipping on a hard launch at Bandi.

The throw out bearing..? Did you get a new one with your clutch kit?

I am not sure to be honest it was a complete kit. The Helms called it a release bearing?

Same thing.. it's just commonly called a throw out bearing.
