View Full Version : Will this turbo bolt up to this manifold?
Well, i'm looking at turbo's and I came across this one from pheonix turbo.
http://store.yahoo.com/cheapturbo/gat357trw63a.html
My question is will it bolt up to my manifold... I have no idea who makes this manifold so don't ask me but here are the pictures.
Don't say it's too big of a turbo, i'm not looking to have boost until around 4-5k anyway, I don't really want a fash spooling turbo.

ok first off, what are the specs on that manifold? flanged for a t3 or a t4? then once you answer that, just get a turbo that that mani is flanged for.
thats the same turbo i am running and your manifold should be flanged for a t3 if you want that turbo to fit.

Yes I believe it is flanged for a t3 but than again I am not positive, what is your boost response like, when does it start to spool?

starts at about 2.5-3Km full boost at about 5.2K, kinda late but i think its my stupid ass gay manifold or charge pipes too that make it get full boost so damn late..
I have that them turbos instock, brand new if you're looking for one. .48 or .63ar, you pick. 575.00 plus tax
If you want faster spool up go with the .48ar hot housing

You can't just look at pictures and see if something will fit. You need to get the specs on the manifold and turbo, and see if they are compatible.
Brian, that looks like the same turbo I'm going to run. It's got a T3 hotside on the TURBO for sure, so I'll tell you what. If you can make it to Westminster sometime before this weekend, we can see if my turbo will bolt up to it. Let me know.

Hey, I will probably end up buying it from you, I also need misc gaskets and flanges i'll come see you, pm me your number and shop address.

its too small.:)

I'm running that same size turbo too...I've got a ramhorn style manifold and I still dont build full boost till about 5200 so no I dont think its your manifold. its pretty nice when you get into boost though...I just need a tune.
brian you might look into getting a new manifold. the wastegate position would creep me out. thats why I sold my drag manifold.

the shops not open for walk-ins yet, PM me with what you need and i'll get you some prices!

Enlighten me on why, im a noob.

shitty wastegate placement = boost creep in higher gears/rpm's. it shouldn't be running off of that one cylinder, it should be running off of all four.

all different makes but they run the wastegate on all four cylinders.
I'm only planning on running 6psi so wouldn't this manifold be okay?

it doesn't mater on the psi that you're running, you might be hitting 8-10 psi max b/c of the boost creep. if you don't mind that then you'll be ok.

six psi atmospheric or absolute? the manifold will be okay though. people use them with higher boost levels.

yeah, I used to say the same thing until I actually drove around with it. Turbo lag sucks

yeah seriously, you'll hate the lag

:werd: There's a lot of joy in just stepping on it and going, and not having to downshift and rev the piss out of the motor to get decent acceleration.

I'd love to see someone running a turbo on 6psi absolute. And I have to agree with everyone here, I love having a turbo that has no lag from 3000 on. My power levels off at high rpms, but its still a ton of fun to drive.
Build your head so it can handle higher RPM's, that way you'll have a longer powerband. ;)

the lower the boost level the more problems you will have with boost creep.
BTW i got a noob question... what does "FTW" mean?
