I'm trying to find some good cheap tires for auto-x. I've been looking at the Dunlop SP Sport FM901. They're cheap and they have a 200 treadwear rating which is exactly what I need for STS. Unfortunately, nobody seems to know anything about these tires. Has anybody used these or know anything about them? I'm running out of time before the new season starts and I need to figure out what tires I'm going to get so any other suggestions for a cheap tire that comes in 205/50/16 or 215/45/16 that would suit me well for auto-x would be appreciated as well. Here's the link to those tires:

This has a bit smaller sidewall than your looking for (205/40/16), but I've always been a big fan of these tires. I know quite a few people who have used these for ATX and have liked them, but I've never used them for ATX myself...

Brian, why not just order them online have them mounted and balanced locally?

P.S. - have you asked any local places if they can order it? Usually if they have a Dunlop account, they can order pretty much any tire you want, it'd just take a lil bit of time to get here.

I know a guy that works at Discount that's looking into it for me. I really want to get some Falken Azenis in 215/45/16. That's my #1 choice but it's really gonna depend on how much I can get them for. I have to buy 4 wheels and 8 tires all at once so I'm trying to keep my costs down as much as possible. The Dunlops are super cheap but nobody knows anything about them.

Oh yeah, love your avatar Mario. When are we gonna take some pics?

Right ons. That's understandable. Maybe check Performance Wheel and Tire on Santa Fe.

Pics... good question. I am gonna exchange my lens tomorrow. When do you have off again?

I know the manager at Performance, Bill. He's a real cool guy. I've actually done a lot of business with him: wheels+tires on Heather's Accord, and like 3 other sets of Nittos. Unfortunately, I don't think he'll be able to beat Discount's price on this one and, as stated above, time and money are my biggest problems. I'm always off on Wednesdays and Thursdays and I usually get off early on Monday and Tuesday if you wanna get together.

Ok. Perhaps we can shoot for Monday or Tuesday evening. It needs to be around 5-6 or so. If not, let's plan on next Wednesday.
