H&K's are hot. i like the mark 23, .45 acp sexiness. the colt 1911 feels so nice to shoot though. why does everyone like glocks so much?

thats like saying why doesn't everyone like HK's so much... all personal pref... i like my glock because it fits my hand perfectly... .40 cal is best all around... parts are interchangable with other glock parts... can withstand anything you throw at it... a lot of people carry them (cops, FBI, etc)... reliable... fairly priced... easily concealable... endless amount of parts for them...

Yeah, its sole purpose is to send as much lead in the least amount of time.

I have a 21 and I love it. It is a joy to fire but is not easily concealable. Im looking into a G19 or one of these as a backup or summer clothes concealed.

that looks similar to the springfield xd. except the xd is a .45 acp (you can get it in 9mm as well) and it holds 14 acp's here's a cool video about it.http://www.springfield-armory.com/index.shtml

Thats a lot of weight hanging on the belt. I handled one of these last weekend and it is astounding how light and compact it is, even loaded. Feels like carrying a wallet.

I can see two major downfalls to that gun. (not that it isnt a good weapon, and it should be for almost $1k)
It weighs too much. 32oz. (more than my .45)
And all the hard corners on the backside may make it clumsy to retreive in an emergnecy situation.

downfalls as they are, you can have 1911's cocked and locked so you can get rounds off faster than anything else in an emergency situation. this alone makes me feel safer to have a 1911 in an emergency situation than a glock or some other double action. i would rather have 7 .45's then 14 9mm. im partial to .45 but that's just me. i like being able to see where you hit the target down range without bringing it back but so freaking expensive to put rounds through. $20 for 50rounds. maybe ill just purchase a ruger 22 now.

Its no faster than a glock if both of them have a round chambered. Thats part of the reason I also like the new Taurus 24/7. If it for some reason fails to fire it reverts to double action so you can try to refire the round again.
It all boils down to what you are comfortable shooting. I have my Glock and my revolver. The revolver is fun to shoot but beacuse of the hammer is not my favorite choice for carrying. It tends to want to hang on loose clothing and even the thumb strap on the holster from time to time. Also in single action it has close to a 20lb trigger which makes aim an issue in emergencies. In double action it is close to a 2lb trigger so it is too easy to squeeze off an unwanted round.

just get a glock 45 GAP. .45 round in the same frame as the 9mm/.40...

That way I wont have to buy different rounds.

Going to jack the thread for a sec... btw - the glock pwns. That 18c (?) variant is very illigal, but damn I want one. There is an 18 or 20rnd clip you can get for them - I wouldnt use the auto unless I had a few of those in my belt. They are too long to be concealed - but the mags on hand once the regular mag is spent is ideal. Going to get a 45 one of these days - otherwise ----

If you all are worried about a thief breaking into your car or home - do you really need something concealable? Especially in the dark? Usually if it comes down to it, the first few shots are all that matters - or is going to happen before someone is dead or runs off with wet shorts (you would be lucky to pull off a successful snap-shot in the dark).

I would say that for true home / garage defense settle for nothing less than a folding stock Saiga-12. Its built around the AK basically but fires any 12 gauge shells *evil grin* and in any shell combo as fast as you can pull the trigger. lol . So you could load the first few shots with snake shot to scare / mame your intruder (dont want errant bullets / slugs not hitting their mark or going through your neighbors house or your car in the heat of the moment) and then have the rest loaded with magnum shells or whatever suits your fancy once they turn tail or hide which allows you to then aim properly. Any BP vest that could stop a 7.62 round couldn't shoulder the impact of a 12 gauge magnum shell - it wouldn't go through, but it would crush who ever is behind it. heh.

It also loads and looks like an AK. Just the sound of the receiver itself should be enough to get anyone to run. Speaks for itself (http://club.guns.ru/eng/sig12/sig12.mpg).
Well, its about the best legal home / garage self defense weapon you can buy for under $300.00 in my opinion. You can also get it in a 20 and 410 version. The military variant allows for a much larger magazine and a pistol style grip. Check this out. (http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=873088818282992794&q=saiga&pl=true)

I wouldnt normally keep one in my car, let alone strapped ... but unless im getting car jacked, their fuked.

Accuracy by volume. =P
