I have an oppertunity to get a new car. I want a turbo, and i want an 06 WRX, but i wouldn't be able to mod it till the warrenty ran out, or I could get like a 94 legacy turbo, and mod the fuck out of it. I don't want an 05 cause my wife has one, and i'm not a fan of the neon style headlights. Help

Who cares about the warrenty? If you start modding it, either way you'll probably start breakin' stuff.

those legacys dont have much aftermarket support, and they have pretty weak numbers stock and they are sohc, im not saying that you cant fab up some shit and use a standalone like megasquirt but it would be tough i looked in to one not too long ago
if you wanted a rally inspired sedan look for a galant vr4 just my .02

That is a really hard choice.....the 92-94 turbo legacy's have some really badass strong motors....the WRX does have a lot of aftermarket support....either way you go be prepared to have a lot of ups and downs this hobby is very expensive and time consuming....if you go with the WRX one of your first upgrades really need to Fuel Rails, Engine Management, and then you can start doing the other mods....I learned the hard way about the #3 cylinder being starved of fuel....with the legacy with a little Fabing you can easily make that a 350whp beast...the block is solid....but you will need to upgrade a lot to get it there

dyno comp down here in AZ is offering re tune packages that put the performance of the 06 WRX's right there(and even surpassing) the STI's with just a couple mods.

Why do you need to wait until the warranty runs out?

What does it matter? If you break something and void the warrenty, you may have to pay right?

If you wait till there is NO warrenty at all you WILL have to pay right? Only now you are paying to replace parts on an older, more beat up car. Why not make it fast while it's still nice?

i agree. warranties hardly ever get used anyways as long as you do regular maintenence on your car. i work in a dealership and most of your warranty stuff is for squeaks and rattles.

besides upgrading the turbo on a car that is already turbo'd usually wont void your warranty. we have a celica GTS that comes into my work everynow and then with nitrous on it and no one gave a shit.

we also had a different celica GTS that came in twice to have the head rebuilt, and a 3rd time to have a new long block because the guy kept over reving the motor. it had all sorts of aftermarket shit and was obviously abused, but never voided the warranty.

FYI they will never completely void a warranty, they will just aprove/deny it on a claim by claim basis. and its more or less based on the technicians recomendation. if he's cool and doesn't even mention anything to the warranty company they have no reason to deny a claim.

I rode around in a Forester last night that had been upgraded to STI specs, but with a bigger turbo (20G maybe?). It runs high 12's and is fast as hell. I think that car is the ultimate sleeper.
