I recommend that no one goes to this shop. It is on 119th and teller st. I went there to get my clutch replaced thinking that everything would be fine. When i got the car back, my bumper was hanging off (easy fix but should've been on right). When i got in the car my carpet was full of dirt like they didn't even care about it. Then i turn the car on and my music was up all loud and a different cd was in my cd player..i was pissed at that point since they went through my glovebox obviously. Then to top it off i go to drive away and my shifter feels sooo awkward so i back up and get the guy to take a look at it..the shifter was pointing forward and i knew it was wrong. He was like well we didnt touch it..he said, "well maybe since your clutch was bad the new clutch repositioned the shifter." I was like are you fucking kidding me?? i've owned 3 hatches and never felt one like this. So then they have the nerve to tell my dad that they thought i was 16 and this one my 1st car. I couldn't believe it...i just said fuck it and left. I met up with my friend Pete(floored4door) to make sure that i wasn't crazy. Right when he looks at it he says your shifter on backwards. I knew this was the problem so i took it back to my house, went under the car, and fixed it myself. The next day i took it back to the shop to rub it in their face and when the owner sat it my car he goes, "your shifter feels right now...ughh i mean did you do something to it?" i said yea i fixed your mistake!! he must have felt like a total dumbass. Then i asked him why my music was turned up and he was like "they like to listen to music." at that moment i was ready to take my steering wheel off and it him in the head. Now whenever i go into 2nd it grinds and i have to drive around 10 minutes for it to finally go into 2nd no problem. He said now its a syncro problem but i dont trust them to take my car back. I believe that his mechanics went for a joyride also because i went there with a little over half a tank and now i was only a little above the red line!! asshole!:fu:

well i know a lot of people won't take the time to read this but i just want everyone to know how this shop treats their customers

Sounds like a bunch of fucks. Check your tranny fluid and make sure it's full. Some places will drain the tranny fluid when doing clutches.

wouldn't they have to drain the transmission fluid since they had to drop the transmission to put the clutch in?

Yeah, once you pull the axles out of the tranny, oil should start coming out, so unless they went to the trouble to keep it from spilling out, they should have put in new fluid. Your 2nd gear issue sounds like they didn't put in the right kind of tranny oil, and/or didn't put in enough.

Pulling out the transmission really isn't that hard... it will take a little while to learn the first time you do it, but after that, it's cake. It is definately worth learning to do. And once the transmission is off, replacing the clutch is very simple. Putting it back on is easy if you have another person to help you get it in position.

Sorry guys i'm a noob at this, but how do you check the tranny fluid on a manual tranny? I have an S40 tranny in my civic.

There's a drain plug on the passenger side about 4 or 5" from the bottom of the tranny with a square cutout in it which is where you put a 3/8" drive rachet in it, losen it, and make sure it's full enough to where it would not spew out of the hole.

You're kind of messed up on that. Taking out a drain plug to check a fluid level isn't going to do you much good besides draining said item. Don't take the drain plug out to check the level just as you wouldn't take the oil drain plug out to check your oil.

Above the drain plug there is a large bolt, normally next to and a bit above the axle. There is no easy way to check the level of tranny fluid, no dipstick or anything, so the best you can do if you don't want to flush or change your tranny fluid is to pump fluid into the fill hole until it starts to trickle back out.

MEH! I didn't mean the drain plug.. fucker. I meant the bolt above it, thus why I said 4-5" above the bottom of the tranny. Whoops.

You also said this, describing the drain plug, not the filler hole bolt.

The filler plug is the same size, is it not? I thought the drain plug was a 1/2" hole? Or is it vice versa?

Drain plug = 3/8 square drive hole in it
Fill plug = 17mm hex head bolt.

Edit: on a side note, sorry that shop fubarred your car. It seems that no shops really care about their work anymore. It really isn't that hard to keep customers happy. But sometimes I guess they don't understand that.
