Would it make much of a difference at all as far as acceleration, if I put a 16lb flywheel on my d16z6? It has an 18lb flywheel now, it's only a 2lb difference.

Why only an 18lb one? Even if you're boosting you can go to an 11lb one, I plan on it with my turbo d16y8.

Basically, less mass for the engine to turn means more power that the engine can put to the wheels, it isn't lost in the drivetrain. So lighter flywheel = good thing.

You wont notice anything at all.
I installed an 11lb flywheel on mine and I barely noticed it.

On a stock motor you're going to notice it along with if you have modifications (fi or na), period.

the Fidanza 9 lb. flywheel makes Probe GT's rev like a GSXR, but it's a v6 and the 9lb flywheel cuts the flywheel weight in 1/3

Yeah, I put a 9lb flywheel on my car and it made no noticable difference in accelleration. I think my stock one was 20+ pounds. Sometimes my revs drop so fast my car almost dies.

i don have an honda/acura but in my car the stock flywheel is like 22-24lbs and the one i have in it is a 11lb personally the biggest thing i noticed is that it was easier to get the car moving from a stop since my car weigh's in at 2 tons.. but it does seem rev quicker on mine too.

That's because it's a smooth change... I didn't notice my GS-R gearing making me any faster, but it's real world performance sure did get better. A flywheel wont really make that much difference in acceleration, but it still does have an effect... it's just hard to really feel it, since it's a smooth change, rather than giving you a sudden jolt of power at a certain RPM range. Acceleration isn't the only reason to get a lightweight flywheel... the engine RPM will also drop faster between shifts, the engine will be more responsive, and engine braking will be more effective (less momentum trying to keep the engine rotating faster). I'm happy with my 9.8lb flywheel.

i hear more bad things then good about lightened flywheels

I think it really depends on car. I've been in some cars with lightened flywheels where it was defintely a very noticeable difference. In my car, I couldnt really notice at all but I'm sure it gave me a couple hp.
