SC SI VS. Turbo Tercel....

I was just leaving a job when a silver Toyota Tercel passed my car by. he shifted and let off a loud ppppffffssssttt of air in my ear. I decided to follow and see what the deal was. We got a straight section nodded and took off. I pulled a car or two and we both let off. I asked the guy how much boost he was running and he said 15 psi. I had to move for traffic, but he yelled out "dear god what do you have done to that thing", and I replied i'm running 10. Hopefully the guy that owns the car will get on the board. I think he saw the sticker. Anyhow he seemed really cool, and I have to give him a lot of respect for being different and doing some nice modding.

Yah he goes to UCCS here. I saw the car a couple of times (it says turbo 1.3L) and at first I was thinking another ricer with too many stickers on his hands [heh]. But then I heard the BOV when he was driving and even saw him down at PMI opening day. I think he was running somewhere around 15.4 in the 1/4 that day.

You can't help but give the guy some major props for doing all that custom work to turbo that 1.3L :). I believe he did all the work himself.

Damn 15.4 out of a Tercel is pretty damn good, I don't think I have seen one run that quick before... I wonder if it is built, I would think it would have to be to run 15 psi...

Is it plain silver, any other distinguishing marks or anything if I see it?

About the only distinguishing marks are that it has some black striping down the middle I think. Also it has an actual Functional reverse (compared to WRX) hood scoop. Underneath it is the air-to-air intercooler with a fan o the top of it too blow air from hood scoop through the intercooler.

That IC looks plastic though....Ive ridden in his car and let him ride in mine and we both thought my car was a few tenth quicker. It definately is cool that he did that and he was different, i give him props.

I saw him at a dyno day here and I think but dont quote me on this, he put down 170 or so to the wheels.

170 to the wheels sounds like a good start..
mine only puts down 161 . at least till may 11
seems like 15 psi would give it more than that though..even a 1.3L

actually at the dyno he wasnt pushing 15psi. He said he was waiting on a few things to turn it all the way up.

ahhh, that would make sense.. 15 psi is a lot to a 4 banger..i 'd like to see what that "little tercel"can do with 15 psi... talk about a pocket rocket!!!

It was pretty quick.... I pulled pretty easily, but like I said, I was impressed. Probably a low 15 second car.

at the track, pretty much running the same set up he did on the dyno he ran a 15.4-15.5 on slicks pulling a 2.0 60. I have one of his runs on video
