I have a stock d16z6 with intake and exhaust in my 96 civic coupe right now. Would I really notice a difference if I got a 12 lb flywheel and a stage 1 clutch installed?

What manufacture? Stage1 doesnt really mean shit unless we know what it actually is.
I can tell you I had a Centerforce DF on my Jetta. It was so much nicer then the stock clutch. It had more grip and didnt get roasted from one launch. The stock clutch is such a piece of crap compaired to any slight upgrade.
If you need to replace your clutch anyways, then there is no reason to not upgrade it.

What would you recommend?

The only 2 differences you'd notice with the lighter flywheel is that it'll rev up quicker and you'll be feathering the clutch a little more to get it going due to less rotating mass. Drag racing - keep your stocker, road racing - get the lighter flywheel.

I dont know what the honda guys typically use.
Suggested brands would be ACT, exedy, centerforce, spec.
I'm sure if you search Honda-tech.com you could find tons of info.

Well the reason I want to get a lighter flywheel is because my engine revs up real slow, it also takes off real slow, almost likes it doesn't get enough gas to go.

Bullshit.
Up and down shifts will become smoother and faster; and the fastest drag cars out there almost unanimously use lightweight flywheels.

I could agree mostly..I noticed more actual usable power with the lighter flywheel.
especially with the supercharger.
However,I understood that turbo cars dont benefit as much and has more trouble keeping the turbo spooled.

BTW the fastest drag cars out there don't have much of a choice but to use aftermarket flywheels, there's this thing called a "SFI rating", good luck getting a stocker to pass.

That's just silly.

You'd think if they were having any problem with the lighter flywheels they would quit fucking around and hurting their own times and go cut steel flywheels to have certified.

I had a lightened flywheel in my stroker talon, I put my stock flywheel back in it. It revved up quicker but also fell out of boost quicker in between shifts.

Then you need to learn to stop shifting like a school girl ;)

It never fell out of boost on the track, I can shift just fine, I was referring to more of driving on the street.

On the street, sure, but any time you're worried about fast boost recovery, you shouldn't be taking long enough to shift where it becomes an issue.
