That's the GJ build, except GSR block with LS head. Why? Some people aren't t3h smart. :D

supposedly better cooling on the bottom end... I have seen GSR bottoms with LS heads.... never heard of the B16 ls head combo..

LS heads flow like shit though, as I've learned from Tobi. So, pointless. If you want better cooling, by a racing radiator.

If he had the same setup, I'd love to considering my setup should put out well over what he dyno'd. He's building a k-series now though..

Don't have a link, but his completely built bottom end with an LS head dyno'd this on something like 17-20 psi:

I think the head was stock, but I've heard of people running ls/vtec setups cranking out 400+ on stock heads with stock bottom ends.

Yeah, for NA... But you generally don't want giant ports and things for boost. The GS-R block + LS head is actually not a bad idea, if an LS is ideal for your intended use... swap out the pistons and maybe the crank too, then it's an LS with a stronger bottom end and oil squirters. Of course, the LS block is plenty strong itself, so it's hard to justify the effort. And for the 1/4 mile, I would think you'd want more top-end power, which is what the GS-R head, cams, and VTEC are all better for.

Well yeah, but that's what GJ was building his car for, as well as what I'm building mine for (drag racing). Which makes no sense why he would use the LS head, and that was the point I was tryin' to make.

Yeah... the LS doesn't have oil squirters. The GS-R also has a block girdle, iirc. Some come with oil coolers as well, but I think it was only the 1994 and maybe 1995 GS-R, and all Type-R's.

GJ said his setup put down like 700hp on the dyno although he never posted a dyno sheet he wanted to race everyone and their mom for pinks I think he was squeezing as well.

If I remember right I think I heard that he said that was with his lower boost setting and no juice, which is bullshit, but honsetly I think that motor made a lot of power.

lol, GJ was running juice, but last i heard only ran a 12.8... although that was on drag radials not slicks, but still anyone remember that "457HP daily driven sedan" that was for sale awhile back? he said he ran a 12.6 on street tires.

also to add to GJ's credibility, back in the day he claimed to be making 1400HP with his 8-71 blown, built 350 in his truck. well really it was a 6-71 blown stock 350. an 8-71 wont push enough air tfor that kind of HP, and he claimed to be making 1400HP through his 700R4 tranny, which any chevy fan knows those simply dont hold ANYWHERE near that much HP...not even half that. he is simply full of shit when it comes to claiming how much HP he is making.

I heard he boosted that then blew it up.

Anyway Pang ran a 12.2 on slicks at bandi on a complete stock LS and he only ran a 12.8 he had alot of cash soaked into that car should have been 10's or 11's at least. He said he ran 10's but never raced at least that I saw at Bandi.
