If ya go, look for a black 2001 jetta, debadged, "limo" tint...he claimed a 15.4 @93mph on drag radials with just intake and exhaust (1.8T engine). And now that he has a chip...he thinks he'll run a 14 at bandi. I don't think theres a chance in hell he can hit a 14 with just chip/exhaust/intake.
It'd be awesome if he did....but i'd have to see it to beleive it...and since i can't see it, was wondering if someone else could see it for me ;)

I'll probably head up there. I'll take the camcorder in case he wants to BS, that way you'll have proof.

Is Bandimere going to be open to everyone this Sunday (April 21st)? In other words, could I just show up there on Sunday and run my car a few times, or do they require some sort of registration ahead of time? How much do they charge you to run? I've never been out there before, but I'd like to do a few runs before I install my cat back exhaust and a header.
Is it true that cars that would run 15's at sea level run 17's up here, or is that just a bunch of BS?
I've heard that those VW's come from the factory a bit de-tuned, so a chip makes a big difference. I drove a stock '01 Jetta 1.8T and it seemed pretty quick for only being rated 150hp. But, I too doubt he'll get into the 14's at Bandimere.

Just show up and then you fill out a registration card then get inspected and I think it's $25 to race but my be up to $30 this year.
Naturally aspirated cars lose a bit over a second from their sea level times and turbo cars lose a bit under a second.
For example my car runs about 15 flats bone stock at sea level and up here I ran 15.8s.
An example of a NA car would be Newt2's Type R which ran a 15.9 up here stock and other stock Rs run 14.5-14.7s at sea level.
I think your friend's Jetta will probably run in the high 16s,14s are a long ways away. '01 Mustang GTs run about 15 flat at Bandi and C5 Vettes run mid 14s so now you have reference points.
Good luck.:)

Yeah he showed me his time slip right after he ran...(right behind me) also saw him run a 15.0 his first time. Don't know if he had drag radials....all I know is that he had all the same kinda wheels on the car...

those are pretty nice times. people at sea level with similar mods have run low 14's and one ran a 13 i believe with jsut chip, intake, exhaust, slicks
