View Full Version : WTF is up lately?

What's up with all the retards lately? I've never been the grammar police (leave that to my girlfriend), but some of the newer members posts are completely unreadable. I've seen more articulate writing from 7 year olds (no, seriously I have).
I think i'm going to install a spell checker.

"You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink"
Unless you somehow force these "less than literate" members to spell check (which, I might add, still requires a small amount of intelligence to use properly) I don't think you will be achieving much... It's similar to handing a dictionary to a 4 year old... doesn't accomplish much.
It's a nice thought though... :D

Ghandi has nicknamed me miss grammar pants, and I absolutely can't stand "internet" words and symbols.
If I'm looking at a post and there's more than 3 words misspelled in the first line, I won't even read the rest of it. Honestly Brian, there is no hope...even with spellcheck.

I have respect for the few that have a reason to misspell words, aka "not speaka da english"
Brian

THat's why I ask first. If english isn't their primary language I can respect that. English is difficult, and at the very least they are trying.

I'm assuming they're typing/writing "street," like how they talk. This makes me not want to meet them... because I know I'll snap after they blurt out 2 sentences.
Oh well, I'll just do what I do now - skip the post if it looks like a big block of run on sentences with spelling and grammar errors.
Another thing that annoys me is when they use "............" instead of just hitting the "enter" a couple of times and make it easier to read.
:sigh:

I think you should force posters with < 200 posts to have to use the spellchecker in order to make a post. Once they go beyond that post count, it's then just optional.

Three periods in a row, or "...", is actually a punctuation mark called an ellipse.

That's an ellipse with a period after it. In theory that's what you do if your ellipse falls at the end of a sentence I guess.
