I had the opportunity to see Joanna Connor perform lastnight at a small, intimate venue here in Colorado (the Little Bear in Evergreen). She is a blues & rock guitarist, who is also an outstanding vocalist.
If you are into blues-influenced rock (zeppelin, allman brothers, stevie ray vaughn, pointer sisters, etc) get out and see her.
The Joanna Connor Band is a 3 piece - her bass player absolutely phenomenal, and the drummer - well, the drummer holds it all together. Absolutely amazing. I was there with 2 pals, and we sat there from the first chord until the last chord. The best $6 I've ever spent. And I gave them $20 for 2 CDs - one a live, raw recording and the other a studio album.
I'd rank her among the top 10 guitarists I've ever seen (and I'm and old fart) - a setting with Joanna, Joe Satriani, Stevie Ray, Dickie Betts and Derrick Trucks would be nothing short of an eargasm.
Chicagoans - go see her! A very basic webpage which includes their tour dates is located at http://www.dmamusic.org/joannaconnor/
Cheers! :)
