Can somebody confirm/deny the validity of this:
On my '89 CRX Si, the lights have always dimmed when I hit the brakes, despite the fact my battery was good, my idle speed was good (800 rpm), my alternator output was w/in specs, AND despite the following ground cable upgrades:
New 4Ga battery to chassis ground cable, to which I then daisychained another 4Ga cable from the chassis ground to the engine block (attached at the frontmost distributor bolt).
From the distributor bolt I ran a 10Ga ground to the ground at the top of the valve cover, then from there another 10Ga ground to the core support (the factory valve cover & valve cover to core support grounds remain in place as well).
I also ran a 10 Ga ground from the distributor bolt to the clutch cable bracket. The factory chassis to clutch cable bracket ground wasn't in too bad shape, so I simply cleaned the attachment points.
Even after all that, the lights still dimmed when I hit the brakes!
It wasn't until I ran a 10Ga ground from the ECU ground at the thermostat housing to the clutch cable bracket that the lights FINALLY stopped dimming when I hit the brakes.
Go figure...
