Well here is another one, I have seen fron lips on cars that is not really a body kit. It is simular to a panal of a plexiglass, with t cables running into the grill. It is ajustable too. Has anyone seen these. They are on race cars not street cars.

Also what is a good setup for rear downforce on a FWD car? Rice spoilers are not a good idea. The one I had on my civic did put a lot of downforce but it was not as strong enough of to suport it right. Also I did not have a windtunnel. Any Ideas?

You deffinatley need VTECK.

Shouldnt you worry about a DAMN car before you think of lips... or F150 grilles?

thos are called "splitters"

You want downforce on the wheels that are transferring power to the ground. A wing on any FWD car is just a fagbadge.

You don't need downforce.

You know better than that...

Not really... Properly designed wings do more than just hold down the rear, but even rear downforce alone can have value, regardless of drivetrain configuration. I would not have the results I do on the road course without the rear wing... I think low 1:17's at Second Creek in a FWD Honda speaks for itself.

As for front "spoilers", aka splitters and air dams, they are usually designed to reduce lift, which is bascially the opposite of downforce. Lift is when air gets under the car and pushes up on the underside of the it. If you block the air from getting under the car, it reduces that and can even create a little bit of a vacuum to help suck the car down towards the road.

Of course, none of this is really going to matter for street or highway use.

didn't this conversation already take place?

If I do go a spoiler go of a type R for the integra, and for the front, should I go for a lip, or air dam? Also is Second Creek still around or has it been destroyed.

This is from a websight I found, gmecca
Spoilers
Spoilers are used primarily on sedan-type race cars. They act like barriers to air flow, in order to build up higher air pressure in front of the spoiler. This is useful, because as mentioned previously, a sedan car tends to become "Light" in the rear end as the low pressure area above the trunk lifts the rear end of the car.
Front air dams are also a form of spoiler, only their purpose is to restrict the air flow from going under the car.
Wings
Probably the most popular form of aerodynamic aid is the wing. Wings perform very efficiently, generating lots of downforce for a small penalty in drag. Spoiler are not nearly as efficient, but because of their practicality and simplicity, spoilers are used a lot on sedans.
The wing works by differentiating pressure on the top and bottom surface of the wing. As mentioned previously, the higher the speed of a given volume of air, the lower the pressure of that air, and vice-versa. What a wing does is make the air passing under it travel a larger distance than the air passing over it (in race car applications). Because air molecules approaching the leading edge of the wing are forced to separate, some going over the top of the wing, and some going under the bottom, they are forced to travel differing distances in order to "Meet up" again at the trailing edge of the wing. This is part of Bernoulli's theory.
What happens is that the lower pressure area under the wing allows the higher pressure area above the wing to "push" down on the wing, and hence the car it's mounted to.
Wings, by their design require that there be no obstruction between the bottom of the wing and the road surface, for them to be most effective. So mounting a wing above a trunk lid limits the effectiveness.

No idea. I realized that I'd not been here in forever, and thought I'd come back & see wtf was up.

And I'm looking for a replacement for the (slow, not fun at all) A4.

I wonder how the Air Dam on the F150 lightning front end with a type R spoiler would do in there... ;NutKick;

Hey stop flaming this guy.

We all know the Ford F150 front end gives you enough ground clearance to mount the rear wing below the front bumper so you can cut down on drag.

Personally I think the "backwards mounted central rear wing" provides the best balance between wasting money and making youself look like a retard.

I take it none of you belive me about the ford F150 bumper in front acura legend. if can can he should take a photo of tomics legend and post it here, Tomic needs an engine, he has the tranny. But he did a good job. Ask Pang and Oldskoolracer, they both have seen it.

Pang? Oldschoolracer? Can one of you two please explain this mythical F-150 controversy??? I'm guessing our boy was just confused about what this Tomic guy has on the front of his Legend???????

BTW, how many junk yard turbos do you need to sell on ebay to save enough money for: header, exhaust, spoiler, and front lip?

1 people buy them for about $100-200 on ebay. If I have the turbo manifold i can get about 250.
