I know that this may sound retarted, but is it possible to weld a broken sway bar? Over the weekend the sway on my beater busted. I checked a few junk yards and they dont have any. The dealer has one for over 100 dollars. It is far from a performance car and I don't take corners doing 90 sooo.... I thought that it would be made the same way as a spring and may not want to heat it up too much to soften the metal. Is it worth it to just get a new one? Let me know what you guys think. Thanks!

Yeah, that sway bar will be minutly tweaking and has a lot of pressure on it when ur turnin, so it'll just break again

It's probably more trouble than it's worth. What kind of car and how big is the bar? Front or rear?

It is for a 89 Dodge Aries K WOOT!! I called a few junk yards, but no luck. I called the dealership and they said that it has to be prepaid before they order it and all sales are final. What if it is the wrong one....? Oh well, let me know what you guys feel the best route is. Thanks for your help.
EDIT: The broken sway is off the front.

dang. i thought it was going to be for a honda civic or something easy, is the aries like the shadow? did you check triple action recylers off of tower/colfax? they usally got good shit.
K cars have sway bars?
I mean, I knew they (K cars) were very performance oriented but my Civic didn't even have sways. I'm sure you can find one if you call more yards. Or, you could just take it off. I mean, how hard can you drive it?
I have much love for the Aries. It was the first car my friends and I rolled around in and those times are always great when you look back. We could spin the wheels uphill in the rain. Good old days.

Possible? yes.
Will it last more than a few turns? probably not.
Depending on the base material, more than likely it will harden a bit during welding, and cause it to crack right next to the new weld.

k-cars are sweet.
anyways just take it off and drive without it. if body roll is horrible then worry about it, but i doubt it will be, all the rear wheel drive guys remove them to get better weight transfer to the rear, and they have no problems.
