Got challenged by a new Contour...

I was tightening the bolts on my turbo cause the were all loose and this guy pulls up in a newer contour with a 6 cyl in it. He askes me when were gonna race, i told him next tuesday just being a smart ass. He wanted to put $500 on it, i was like fuck that, ill put my tag against it though. After talking to him for a few min i pretty much got it out of him that hes running a 150 shot....But he wouldnt let me look. He also implied that he had more than one bottle. He has the stock exhaust though....

All i have is my B16g, some dejon pipes and the MBC will be here in a few days. I dont think i want to race him if hes running a 150 shot though. I guess ill just have to do it for fun.

What do you guys think?
Im thinking i should call Earnest and see if this dude will run the WS6.

THe Contour has the same engine as the Cougar, a 6 cilinder 2.5 liter Duratech. Unless the bottom end is seriuosly built (which they don't make anything like that for the Duratech) it will not handle a 150 shot. Maybe a 75 shot at the most. Vortech makes a supercharger for the Duratech but other than that about the only thing you can get for it is bolt ons. Regular Contours run high 16 to low 17's. If it is an SVT (dual exhaust and ground effects), they run high 15 to low 16's here at altitude, stock.

If you want my opinion; the more than one bottle havin ricer fuck needs to go home and watch the movie again.

i think you will beat him, I highly doubt he is running a 150 shot. Just my opinion though.

Even low 16's up here for a contour is pushing it, I'd say more mid 16's for the SVT

I have seen an SVT Contour throw down a 15.8 at Bandi. He might not have been stock, but I saw it. He ran right next to the Cougar.

I looked at his car again and its an SE. I guess ill just have him throw down some plates against the race...when i get my MBC.

dude, you don't need an MBC for an SE. I smoked one of those hard when I only had a CAI and the SE was stock. If he's got NOS, and you've got boost, tell him goodbye, and show him your taillights the whole way.

Yeah, no worries. I have a close friend that has a Contour SE. He ran in the low 17's stock.

If you think the guy is really running nitrous then put the MBC on but otherwise he is just a speck in your rearview.

Well i got my MBC in and im running about 13.5 psi right now. Im gonna re-wire my fuel pump before i turn it up anymore. The exhaust is really holding me back though, but that will be on its way as soon as my tax return gets here.

I guess its time to go take this guys Plate...

Ya know I am NOT a big fan of "NAAWWSSSSS" but remember Bret did drop from a 16.3 to a 14.0 in the 1/4 with just a 75 shot. So if he is running a 150 shot and his motor does last for your race it could be kinda ugly =). Just do it for fun and watch him blow his engine [heh].

This was on a late 90's (last gen) 2.5 RS. Bret Michaels was his name. Yah that's what I thought too with just a 75 shot that's DAMN impressive. I was there the day he ran his 14.0 too. Granted it was like 40F or so but still =).

A guy we know with an SI ran a 14.4 at bandimere with only an intake/exhaust/ and a 75 shot...

My brother ran a 14.4 with his CRX when it had a totally stock LS motor with intake and 50 shot... totally different ball of wax though as it would run 15's all day without NOS

Cause bret dropped that much on his 2.5rs with just his 75 shot (btw i have it on video) is why i was worried about him running a 150 shot....I wonder if he has like 3 bottles and running a 50 shot so he thinks it makes 150...Either way i guess ill race him as i sit right now.

NOS is a drag racers juice. I fully believe 16s to 14s on a 75 shot is possible. Hell, an SC on a honda at 6 PSI drops somewhere around 1.5-2 seconds off, and that is no where near a 200 HP increase, more like a 40% increase is all.

one of the things with nitrous is the amount of torque it gives you. I think you gain arond 90 ft/lbs. with a 50 shot. Is that right Tobi?

I saw a guy with a jackson racing supercharger and a 50 shot run a 12.2 on 6 psi of boost........crazy stuff
