Do you think I have what it takes to come down off the porch and play with the big dawgs???

Welcome. and yes, you can play with big dawgz. as for me I prefer to let dawgz play while I sleep on the porch.

Welcome...I noticed your name, I've been a poster on honda-tech for over 2 years now. Glad to see you found us.

Thanks..

What a weekend... anyway...

I have been back in L.A. for about a week now, so sorry I can't make it to any meets in Co. I will try next time I come up to swing by and meet some people.

OT: But can anyone tell me what your vacume reads at Denver's altitude?? Thanks

Steve and I actually looked at his boost gauge last night and his vacuum was only at about 10 or 12 at idle.

thanks.. thats about what I was reading.

I was just comparing it between sea level and denver, since my vacume raised a little every hour on my trip.. heading higher in altitude..

just making sure everything was ok.

What is it now in LA? I would guess closer to 20 since the barometric pressure is so much higher.

My vacume is gauge sucks but from what i can tell...

autometer -20 to -22
blitz controller -53 to -55

I tend more to watch the boost controller more than the autometer, since it's a little more accurate..

I read about 10ish as well in my crx. Welcome to the site by the way... I'm a little slow responding to this post. Sound like your car is pretty damn nice. What exactly is "Blueprinting"?? May be a dumb question, but I am curious.

it is when they put blue prints all over the engine. :)

actually....this is close enuf...
blueprinting is machining the motor to exact specifications. in the process of high speed machining, which is necessary to produce the volume of engines at a reasonable cost, there are tolerances (i.e. - a deck height might be x.xxx plus or minus say .010 of an inch). By cranking down these specs the engine works more like it was designed, leading to better efficiency and therefore more power.

So does that mean that mine will be "blueprinted" when it is done being machined etc after the new sleeves? It was all machined by "hand" I guess you could call it. Not a computer run machine. Is that the same?

I don't think they do it automatically.

Blueprinting is basically measuring tolerances on various compenents, to get a little more usable power. I read somewhere that on engines of today it probably won't make a huge difference, but is worth doing just to make sure things are where they are suppose to be and within tolerances.

There was a real good definition in the article I read, If i can dig it up.. i'll post the link.

I read between 16 and 18 on the vacuum at idle (depends on the idle RPMS, I.E. warming up, etc.) How are you guys reading 10s and 12s? Does that have something to do with the Sohcs vs. Dohcs or something?

Dallas J

Im reading 10-11 on idle, but i think that the guage is off by a little bit. My neon was at 14-15 when turbo'ed. I was thinking that my vacume was low, but now i see that it may be a little low, but i guess its alright.

actually guys.. at our altitude its possible to get as high as 14-16 Hg vacuum, at sea level it's more like 18-20. we have less air to suck up here in the mountains..
if you have overlapping cams or very aggressive cam timing,it can be lower than 14-15..all depends?
my.02 on the blueprinting?
i was told by an engine builder that the blueprinting process is simply setting all the tolerances on bearings and rotating mass on the looser side of the specs(to reduce drag, thus increasing power)he says this process is very time consuming and tedious.
the balancing should be a gimme...nothing like a well balanced engine...
