I have a 96 gsr it was stolen so I put a ls swap in for now here is the problem the car won't crank what so ever I even jump the power from the battery straight to the starter I jump to the smaller wire on the starter and when I did that the ingition in the car seem to be on but no movement to the starter and I even put in another starter too I did the same thing but still no movement on the starter at all
I also test the smaller wire that goes to the starter when turn the ingition switch that smaller wire show a 12volt so I know the switch is sending a signal to the starter.
so my question is why the starter is not working
and when I tape power to the smaller connecter on the starter why that activiate the igniton of the car please help me out thanks

Sounds like the starter solenoid is bad or seized. Have you tapped the starter with a hammer? Sometimes that works but in the long run, it'll eventually seize permanently.

If you put straight power to the starter then there isn't anything else that can cause the problem besides the starter or your power source.

ODB shouldn't matter. You can take a starter out of the car and test it like Autozone. Power to the main lead, and switched power to the small spade connector. If a good 12V source like a jumpbox / battery doesn't pop and spin the starter then there must be something wrong with the starter.

Actually I just saw this part, can you explain this better? You aren't being clear with starter/ignition.

If you have power to the main lead, and you bypass your ignition and just touch power to the small spade connector the starter will engage 9if it works). That is how it should work. So, if your starter is spinning then it shouldn't be a bad starter, but I thought you said there was no movement.

So what do you mean by "activate the ignition"

My guess is a bad power cable.
