View Full Version : My low fuel light

On my '98 DX the low-fuel light used to come on, but it no longer does. I realize that the gauge is there for a reason, but it drives me nuts that the light is not working! Could it just be a bulb? All the other lights work ok (SRS, Check Engine, etc) when I start the car up. What could be wrong? I don't want to pull out the cluster and mess something up. I was also thinking that it may be a burnt fuse...

Any ideas???

I think she means that when she puts the key in and turns it one click, which makes all the lights light up, they all do except the low fuel light. Bulb?

My Integra did the same thing. It used to work fine, but then it just sort of stopped a few years ago, but it would sometimes come on if I ran it down even lower. I ran it super low last time I was at the track and I don't remember it coming on at all.

No, once it gets close to or hits red I put gas in. I've let it get pretty low to test the light... still, nothing...

What's with the Civics and the low fuel indicator?
I just got rid of a '95 EX with the same problem.
It's not a fuse; I checked all mine. But I never got around to checking the bulb or the relay.
Even though it's a stretch (how can a bulb burn out if it's never on?), I'd say start with the bulb...

Sue Honda after you continually run out of gas and it eventually destroys your fuel pump ;)

God, I wish that were true. Think of all the money I would save on gas!

There is a thermistor in the tank that goes bad. That is probably the cause, but to be sure you have to pull the fuel pump assembly and test it.

thanks, I'll have to look into that... if it doesn't cost an arm and a leg. otherwise, I will forget about it....
