1st..Do FMIC's piping connect to the stock ic pipes(or upgraded) or do they make them all the way from the turbo to TB?

2nd..How loud are stock BOV suppose to be? I hear alot of peoples with 1gs and theres are pretty loud, but mine barely makes a pshh. BTW, im not asking for the rice factor, just the fact that if my BOV is not fully opening then i could be hurtin the turbo.

Thanks, you guys ;RoCkOn; !!

1.) Depends on the kit, really. Typically if you order an FMIC kit, in my experience, it comes with most of the parts, but you might need to pick up a 2G Throttle Body Elbow, or some other miscellaneous parts.. again.. depends on the kit. Just ask before you buy. Some also require minor cutting, etc.

2.) Shoudn't be too loud at all-- I assume you aren't venting it to air (and you shouldn't be unless you have a VPC). Perhaps some of the ones you are hearing are Greddy Type S's, or people venting to air, etc. The 2G's seem to be more vent to atmosphere friendly, but its not optimal.

The stock IC plumbing on DSMs is 2". Most of the FMIC kits come with (minimum of) 2.5" plumbing. Get rid of the "soft pipes" and use real pipes.

As far as the BOV, those more rice-oriented will swap their BOVs for something louder, or not run the return back into the intake. That'll make it quite loud, as well as hurt performance.

If you have vacuum pump, take the BOV off and check where it STARTS to open. Should be right around 14 inches of mercury/vacuum.

Well maybe Ill elaborte more on my question then....

1st... Im just wondering if i should upgrade the I.C. piping if i plan on getting a FMIC by the end of the year.

2nd...If its suppose to open at 14 in m/v then maybe thats my problem. Im only getting between 9-11 in m/v at idle...Cant figure out why. And when i let off the gas it barely goes to 15 in. So im guessing that my low vacume might be causeing it to not open fully.
Also the ones im hearing are stock unvented ones.

Maybe some time one of you seasoned pros could help me diagnose it, since i dont have any vacume or pressure testers.

The amount of vacuum you are seeing at idle doesn't really correlate to when the BOV opens. At altitude always expect vacuum to measure lower than @ sea level.

My DSM showd about 10-12 in hg up here and close to 17 in hg at the shootouts in Ohio.

Stock unvented ones? As in running back into the intake plumbing? You can always remove the silencer directly behind the MAF - that'll up the noise factor some. If that's important to you.

If you have an FMIC in the budget, save your $$ and keep the stock IC plumbing until then. Spend it on a more permanent mod, not something that'll be replaced when you install the FMIC.

The stock 1g BOVs are pretty hearty. John Shepard ran one on the old "4bangr" and ran 30psi on the motor. The 1b BOV held. It was probably crushed some, but it held 30psi.

I thought that 10 hg would be pretty low. Up here my neon was at 15 hg at idle, also a friend of mine is getting about 13-14 in his WRX. Thats why i was thinking it was low.
Right now i have a B16g (The stock started to go) I got a intake pipe and compressor elbow from Dejon and did the free mods and i thought maybe it would be louder some...Of course maybe its cause im only pushing 8 psi cause of the stock BCS. Ive checked, checked, and double checked, and its hooked up right, but for some reason wont let it go higher than 8psi.

Im thinking about going with the IRC FMIC race core since im not gonna be driving it as a daily driver, and ive heard lots of good things about it too.

Oh, one thing i just was thinking about. Im betting the the compression ratios have to do with why the vacume is so much lower on the DSM than the Turbo Neon.

No idea.
