I left a message with tehm to see what happens. I wonder who is competent enough to tune it in Colorado.....

i agree, don't know if you could trust anyone in colorado to tune it.
PAT: this guy from texas had his car worked on by AEM for about 4 hours and he still has problems with it, but it was free.

he pretty much has a bad ecu from what I understand. In fact he told me it was doing okay now.

I've been trading emails with AEM for a week or two now, and I've got a couple more ideas on where to start.
We need to go with 440cc or higher injectors, and even with those we may need to raise Steve's fuel pressure to the high 50 something range.
With that and a 20% reduction in timing across the board we should be able to run without blowing the car up and tune from there.
That Vortech map isn't going to so us much good, it doesn't give enough fuel before 6000rpm and way too much after. A better bet would be ti start with a stock map and use bigger injectors. Steve should be close to begin with with that setup. I figure he's adding 10psi which is roughly 70% more air, and a 440cc injector is going to add about 80% more fuel with the same map. Taking into account heat, we may actually need to up the fuel pressure from stock and back off the timing under load. with me only running 5.5psi I'm going to be way rich even at stock fuel pressure and 450cc DSM injectors.
My plan of attack is to back off the timing first, then tune for 12.2:1 under full load. Once I get the A/F ratio right, I'll start adding timing until I get some faint detonation then back it off a few degrees from there.

well with 440's you have to go to the crank fuel table and cut fuelby 55 percent of teh original setting at least on the Si's 240/440=55%. That shoudl make it idle okay.and the values in the fue table need to decrease by that much too. The stoick Si map is the best place to start as teh vortech map is shit for us. I can get the car to drive fine off boost, but once i get on boost it detonates like a bitch. So I need to setup the boost table with different map values, I have them somewhere and i need to play with the timing a bit. then work the fuel curve. I may still see wha I can get out of this dyno time.

Yeah under start and non-boosted conditions we'll have to lean it down a lot. What I was reffering to is under boost, and a 440 should be just about right for the top end on 10psi and stocl pressure.
It seems that where people are getting into trouble with this system is the timing maps. Even with the proper fuel mixture too much timing can blow the engine sky high.

have you put it on your car at all yet Pat? If so have you had any luck with it? It looks like I will be getting mine tuned via that offer in the next couple weeks.......Just need to get my injectors.
