I was on my way back from Hals house yesterday, heading south on
Smokey Hill road towards E470. I'm driving along, minding my own
business, listening to Montrose, when I hear this "PSSHT PSSHT" from
the left lane next to me. I look over and see this riced up Honda
Accord. Silver paint, park bench wing on the back, tachometer as big as my
head and a big yellow shift light on the tach. And an exhaust tip which could
probably shoot watermellons... And lowered about 4". He may have been able to
slip a dollar bill between the oil pan and the ground. :)
Traffic didn't allow him to get next to me, so I slowed down. He stayed
right on my tail until I waved him next to me. I did a finger pointing
foward to say "let's go". I waited until his car jumped a bit and then
laid into it. Low boost in my car is 15psi. Pulled on him pretty
badly, even with the back end coming loose pretty nicely. 2nd gear,
lasted all of about 5 seconds.
He then proceeded to do a ricer flyby on me, at speeds well in excess of
the posted limit, probably close to 80 mph by the time he lifted. I
made an attempt to slowly catch up, but the exit for E470 was coming up
quick.
He nearly stopped at the turn for 470, waiting. I put on my blinker to
signal my intention to use the freeway, and he followed suit. After the
toll booth, I slowed down and waited. 2nd gear, 45-50 mph, getting
close to redline but still had some room to go. He pulled up next to me,
purged the nitrous and I waved him on, as if to say "Go ahead, I'll
catch up". I nailed it as soon as he started to pass me up, which did
nothing but break the rear end loose. BTW, I hit the button for high boost as
I went thru the toll booth. High was set for 23psi.
Shifted into 3rd and walked by him as if he were in reverse. By the time
I shifted into 4th he was about 1/4 mile back, and stayed there. I set the
cruise at 75 and took the occasional glance in the rear view mirror, but
honda boy stayed about a mile back. He finally took an exit ramp and
flashed his headlights @ me.
Just to rub it in I stayed on the throttle till the top of 4th gear.
Poor guy probably didn't have a clue what hit him. If anyone knows this
kid, how big a shot is he using? And come on, it's a honda accord! :)
*ahem*
Just wanted to share. I did, however, appreciate someone purging their
nitrous at me and not backing down after round 1. :)
