ok, i need a clutch.
I had thought that a cm's stage 4 would be enough, but I'm thinking it won't.
I was thinking maybe a cm's stage 5 (the dual disc type). I don't have enough cash to buy one of those $1000+ tilton's so that's not an option.
As for hp/tq as of now I don't know. ImportSports race car put down like 576hp with about the same setup as me though, but mine we'll be pretty de-tuned.
Let's say 400-500hp.
I need something to hold it!!!!!
Any ideas? suggestions?
this is like the last part of the puzzle...

I know John Shepherd's '91 Talon runs high 9s and puts down over 600hp to the ground and uses a custom ACT 3200lb pressure plate with a street disc. I think with 500hp you could use a 2600-2900lb pressure plate and you can get them for around $400-$500.

Any idea on what type of disc?
I'd like to keep a sprung hub till later when I put the aftermarket axles in.
maybe like a sprung 6 puck?
I haven't heard many good things about act though. re-manufactured pressure plates, "pucks" breaking off the discs due to faulty rivets, etc. This was all in the honda's though.
Thanks for the suggestion though, I'll check them out for sure.

I guess most of the problems are Honda related cause I'm on my 3rd one (didn't break, just wore out) and they're what's in the majority of fast DSMs.

Shep uses a street (read: full face) disk. I use an RPS Stage 3 setup. It uses a 6puck friction disk, alternating carbon fibre & metal on the pucks.

The plate is a 2900-3000 lb setup, and it holds my 650+ crank HP w/no problem.

I was going to suggest the RPS as well. I have the stage 2 and love it. It uses a street disc though so I owuld look at at least the stage 3 which I believe is a sprung puck style.

So these clutch thingies, would the Stage II help my 2nd gear...you know, when I slide the selector back in "2nd" Or do I need the Stage 3 for 3rd gear?

I had the sprung cm stage 4 in my galant before I sold it. I was probably putting about 250 to the ground at the time. For what it's worth, the stage 4 was way too much clutch for my car. The stage 3 was much smoother.

I would guess the stage 4 would work well for your application. On the other hand, Shane thinks differently.

read the rps stage 3 is good for about 450hp, didn't give a torque number though.
Do they have anything a step higher?
the stage 3 is a sprung 6 puck, correct?
Thanks for all the ideas/help though guys...

Let me check because I think there is a stage 4. The Stage 3 from what I remember is a sprung 6 puck or a 4 puck.......
