well, there was a lot of racing going on. hehe. we drove up north off of poweres and we all just lined up at the light or took off form a roll against each other. here are some that i remember.....

si .vs. audi from a roll in thrid gear, not a good outcome fro me. he pulled on my pretty hard, i'd say about 1/2 a car and was gaining. i should have downshifted!! and as soon as we start to slow down to make a left we see 3 cops sitting at the end of the intersection, looked like they were discussing how to lower crime in the springs :confused:

si .vs. audi .vs. corrado from a light: audi immediately gets a jump(damn awd_ me and the corrado are pretty even, then somewhere in second gear i start to pull on him, ryan and i are still pretty even, by mid third gear i start tio pull away from him.......slowly.

si .vs. gti at the light: pretty even till about 3rd gear then slowly strat to pull away.

si .vs. gti from a roll i'm in 3rd gear and we are just cruising, so we dicide to go and jeff just takes off on me while i'm downshifting then i start to catch up.

those are the ones i was in that i remember, if you guys remember any otehr post them. very good night like jeff said. that gti is pretty fast too. hehe.......i think the highlight of the night was hearing that corrado's supercharger. it soudned like a siren, that thing is damn loud.

here are some i remember:
gti vs si, very good race, alot closer than i expected, in third rico would pull about half a car but we were almost even until then

gti vs corrado, from a stop i put about a car or more up to 3rd gear. from a roll i would pull at the top of second and third about a car

gti vs audi, from a roll we were even until top of 3rd and i would start to pull slowly, from a stop he would get me by a car to car and a half

over all i was very satisfied considering I was the only one who was stock

I remember all of the stories Rico mentioned...

A4 vs SI...from a stop...i would only launch to about a car length on him, those were good launches too...my clutch is going out and grabbing a lot more, so those launches were about as good as i could get em. I would hold my car length or so through my first and second gear...then right when i shift to 3rd, Rico was getting high into 2nd and pulled up even with me...then it evened out as i got through 3rd and Rico would pull 1/2 to 1 car on me once he got high into 3rd...then we'd let off.

Only other good race i remember was Me and Rico gunning it from a roll on this long straight. I was at about 25mph in 2nd...we both gunned it at the exact same time and by the time i shifted into 4th, Rico's rear bumper was just ahead of my front bumper. Not bad for a 3250lbs AWD sedan! :)

Good races though...Jeff's car is fucking crazy...i don't get how he can hang with the other 3 cars like that while still stock!

Come on...you have to give the german cars SOME credit...we're not that slow! I'll race you guys just to prove it...You have the same setup as Rico right? So we should get close to the same results.
With my clutch being in the state its in...i don't even really have that big of an advantage off the line...so it should be a good test of power.

:D right...and i have the same setup as all those 500-600hp Supras...one turbo...i'm just pushing 16lbs pounds as opposed to their 25!

I do give you guys credit,and your cars are by no means slow. I've seen several 1.8t gti's at the track and rico should slaughter him since he's stock. I've even raced a handful of them on the street and it wasn't pretty.

I do want to race you again as well though Ryan. Now I have tires and more boost than last time. At any rate sounds like you guys had fun. We all need to get out to the track once it opens and just have agood time. :cop:

On a side note Rico and I have never raced, but i'm guessing our cars are close because Steve and I have raced and were pretty even, and Rico and steve have raced and were pretty even. Only the track will decide things I guess..

I agree, we need to get out to a track...thats for sure. But in the mean time we should just run around town sometime like us 4 did last night...nothing big, just enough to get a good few runs in. Maybe tonight Brian?

PMI is opening that early? I'll be heading down there a lot this summer i think...i could care less for bandi, its further away and i won't get half the runs in that i would get at PMI.

I am giving you guys credit, but the point here is that from a roll we should walk away from you guys. Are cars are pretty damn fast form a roll. Form a stop we should pull you guys pretty good too. Especially at 10psi. A stock GTI is no more than a low 16 second car at thsi elevation. On a good day mayb e a high high 15. At any rate soudns like you guys had fun and I am still dissappointed we didnt get invited to come pick on you guys lastngiht:)

haha actually...the point here is that from a roll you guys don't walk away like you think you should. I'm not calling you guys slow, or even trying to start any war of words...but i was surprised myself that i hung that close from a roll. Rico said above that at the top of our 3rd gears we were just about dead even with me pulling about a 1/2 or so. Surprised the hell outta me, thats for sure.

After racing Jeff's car...and seeing how it hung with Rico and my car, i think he'll break into the 15's while still stock, no problem.

Why don't we get a small group together like we did last night, Steve and Brian, you guys should come along...Jeff should be there...and we'll just make a few passes so you guys can see for yourself. Let me know...i'm off till Sunday.:cool:

But maybe soem night this week sometime we can hook up, I still hold to my word that I do not think a gti is a 15 seocnd car up here...... Teds car is high 15 second car adn I can say that it pulls a lot harder now with the test pipe and Brian and I can eat him no problem. jeff just barely pulled him a while back. There were 2 diff races...the first one that Rico mentioned, we were going like 45mph...i was at 3500 in 3rd and Rico said he was in 3rd too i believe. We both gunned it and i gained 1/2 car on him. The 2nd time, i started from 2nd going 25mph...he had to have been in 2nd or even 1st based on how high his engine was revving. We both gunned it and by the time i reached 4th gear...Rico was one car on me. Maybe its just hard to believe, but 4 people saw it haha.

If Ted's car pulled a high 15...and Jeff beat him...then i don't see where you're coming from. I think since you know what your car can run, you should run Jeff and i gurantee you'll know its a 15 second bone stock car...i swear its gotta be under rated...i have 300 more pounds and i'm pushing 225hp 255tq...(AWD plays a factor too) but his car can hang with me easy in gear. 180hp my ass!:guns:

Yeah ted pulled a high 15 with no interior and no exhaust. Jeff barley pulled on him which is our point exactly. My car runs mid-high 14's. 1 second is quite a bit in the 1/4 mile. I don't doubt that both of your cars run high 15's, but I know what mine runs :D

look at all the supercharged si's getting mad:rofl: just messin guys. Its just all in fun. I think 15's are possible after last night. Rico has almost the exact same set up as brian and steve so he "should" be in the high 14's, so 15's should be achievable for me, only time will tell. either way i hung very well with rico and ryan and andy were both there to witness.

Just to add a bit to this thread it seems some 2002 1.8t's are underated from the factory. There have been a couple 02's that dynoed 170 hp TO THE WHEELS so that puts it at around 200 crank hp.

either way they were nice runs, but I still say it is no more than maybe highg high 15's on a good day. Don't mean to talk trash, but I call them how I see them.....As far as the race from a roll thing I know I can pull a GTI or the A4. I beat up on a pretty well modded 1.8t beetle a few (3) weeks ago. CHip, exhaust, intake. I suprised the hell out of him. And Brian whooped up on a turbo Passat on the way to work the other night. But like Brian said the only real way to tell is to take it to Bandi. I know I will be in the mid 14's this year, so will Brian and I am sure Rico can do the same. All we need is a good set of tires....... **Flame suit on**

dang...i don't know what else i can tell ya...Rico and you were even...and you know what happend when me and Rico raced...AND when Jeff and Rico raced...how can you not see that you won't pull that hard on me OR jeff's GTI????

I ran a 16.1 last year with a 2.3 60Ft. My inexperience at the track showed right there...with a good launch i would have easily been into the high 15's LAST YEAR. I've done a few things since then...the biggest was exhaust. Total bottleneck on the 1.8t engine. So i don't see how you think my car will be running high 15's along side Jeff's...especailly when your car runs "mid to low 14's" and i had no trouble keeping up with Rico's. I'm not saying i'll beat you guys in the 1/4...cause i know i can't break into the 14's right now. But you haven't raced either jeff or myself...and we're the ones who HAVE raced a supercharged civic and saw what happend...i just don't get ya i guess. :confused:

Whta I am trying ot say is Rico "should" have eaisly beat you from a roll, i dont doubt you hung with him ain any way. I am, however, saying he should have. I can see you running 15's but I stil dont see teh gti doing any better than maybe a 15.9...Just my opinion. If it does I will be very impressed. And again are cars are faster from a roll than from a stop. I beat a C5 the other day froma roll. I dont know what else to say except that IMO he should have pulled harder.......But like I always say street racing is no measure of performance. You really need to get it on the track to tell. On a side note I did race a red porsche 944 on 18 psi yesterday. That was a clean car...and pretty damn quick.

Oh and the reason I am saying I think I will pull on you guys is because I have raced stock GTI 1.8t's and even some with mods. And everytime the outcome was the same. With the stock ones I would just walk away and with the modded one they would stay with me to about 6k in third then I would jsut pull out. Who knows maybe Jef's car is a freak adn it is faster, but 15's and 14's are a long ways apart on the track:drink:. I do believe you would be a better race as you are chipped and have exhaust. But Brian beat you on 6psi and I am not sure that just exhasut is enough to make up for a 4 psi increase in boost that we both have. At any rate this is still fun. Brings some life to the board:D

Why "should' Rico have pulled? Its not like he wasn't going WOT...Why don't you and i just go out and run! :) I'd love to see the outcome...maybe Rico's car wasn't up to par that night or mine was running better for some reason. I know the track will tell us that your 1/4 mile time is faster than mine...but as for a street race...i don't think you'll pull on me like you're thinking.

You'd be surprised what exhaust does for the 1.8T engine...its not just an increase in HP and TQ. Exhaust lets me hold my numbers (boost) all the way up to redline...unlike when i raced Brian without exhaust...and right around 70mph is where he passed me. (when we hit 80-85mph he was only a car to a car 1/2 on me, but pulling hard) My car used to be a dog in the top end...now, obviously, its hangin with SC'd Civics :cool:

Side note...not all chips/exhausts/1.8T engines are the same. Just cause its a VW 1.8T doesn't mean its the same engine i'm running. Mine is VERY different actually...and since Jeff has an '02...his engine is very different as well. A lot of the chips made for these engines are only .8 bar...meaning they pull that old 150hp up to 180hp. So pulling away from any VW/Audi with chip/exhaust isn't too impressive unless you know which chip/exhaust combo they have.

My friend with the EXACT same car as me has chip/exhaust...just different companies. I can take him by 3 cars from a stop and pull hard on him in gear. So once you pull hard on me...and kill me by more than a car length...thats when i'll keep my mouth shut about you beating all these 1.8Ts ;)

Oh...the chip i have spikes at 1.2-3 bar (15-16lbs) and holds at 1.0...(14.5lbs). Resulting in closer to 210hp...as opposed to .8 bar at 180hp. Big difference.

Well I will run you that is not a problem. I race d 1.8t 2002 model with a 1 bar chip, eurosprot exhaust, cams, and an intake of some sort. hell Brians dad even talked with the guy a few days later. And I personally talked to the guy so I know what he had.

Thats cool...cams?? I've never even heard of aftermarket cams being sold in production for that 1.8T engine...oh well, with a 1 bar chip on that particular 1.8T, it'll get closer to 196hp...and the Tq is a bit lower than me. Lets just go have some fun and race around...why not this evening, when the cops aren't quite out in full force?

Yea, i should have said i don't hear of many people running them. Thats why i said "production" cams...I think only 1 or 2 of the more popular people that i know on audiworld use em...custom ones...but maybe not even that many and i can't even name any off the top of my head. there's so many variables to just base all sc'd si's off of one car, mostly driver difference. i know me and steve never really had the same times up at the track. threfore in light of this.............i quit racing, i give it up all, i'm selling my car this week, buying a bus pass it's been fun though. hey brian, u wanna hook it up with a "public transportation" forum, i'd appreciate it. later guys......

Yep, that was my car up there too. Dave Jones is my best friend, so I know most of his customers. I let one of the urS4 friends drive it up to the luncheon which probably made things even further confusing. I was driving Dave's red S4 with Snows, yuck, up to evergreen.

Hmm, on Union? Sounds like my car, its an ok car until boost comes in, then when it comes in its a really fun car! Thanks for the compliment, Its the most updated and modded turbo in town, though its time for some new major changes.

Never run it down the strip, so I don't know how slow it is. Will be dynoing it someday soon though, I want a baseline before the upgrade occurs....

Do you know the guy with the while 944? his car is pretty quick I ran into him a couple months ago. Not nearly as clean as yours, but pretty fast.

White 944 turbo? There are a couple that come to mind, one's stock with a few little mods and a burgendy interior, the other one is a very tuned one car from phoenix with an intercooler vent in the front panel in front of the hood. But I'm not sure whether the phoenix car was a local or just passing through. Most of the cars in town are stock turbo'd but most of them are running higher boost levels. So be careful who you pick on, especially if its me! couple of weeks ago I had guy in an Intrepid mess with me! I asked him what he was thinking after I spanked him and he said, "you have 220hp and I have 217hp so I thought I had a chance". Ha! What a funny way of looking at things. Even when I was young I knew about power/weight ratios, effects of altitude on NA cars, etc. Even bone stock I would have killed an Intrepid! He was a nice kid though.

Oh yeah, Please call them what they are, 944 turbo's, not a 944. Kinda like calling your car just a civic! 944 turbos are really, really, different cars. Not that theres anything wrong with the plain ones, just too slowwww for me!
