OK, I found an unmodified H22a engine with about 30k miles on it and the full swap kit plus alot of extraneous crap with it for about $1700. I'm replacing the fenders with some OEM replacements and getting the minor dents all taken care of before a bit of a paint job.
Now, what else?
A turbo kit? What brand? How big? What comes with it? Is bigger better?
Here's what I'm really interested in...once I get this kit, am I going to need to do a series of expensive engine modifications? For instance (and I may sound retarded just for asking) but am I going to have to replace major engine parts? All new pistons and rings and headers and intakes and exhaust and all that good stuff. Or is doing all that stuff just a good way to take advantage of the engine and the turbo kit?
What now?

If you go turbo I would suggest building the internals if you wanna run high amount of boost. Those H22 are pretty strong if you just want to run like 6psi daily. But if your going all out get the internals build and the best turbo kit is a custom turbo kit :) IMHO

Going urbo's an expensive affair. If you really want to do it, make sure you've got about 6 grand maybe 7 to spend on it. Also build the motor before it goes in the car, you'll be happy you did.

yeah, or cursing it if you didn't build it and it blows

Ok Mike,I'm glad you're getting somewhere now. $1700 seems about right for that engine. Did it come with a tranny?

everyone will say I'm making shit up, but the h22 is just going to give you trouble once you start going big boost.
My suggestion? buy a bolt on turbo kit, like fmax or something and stick with that.
Forged pistons for the new h22 blocks = new sleeves because of the fiber shit the have on the stock sleeves (they won't seal with forged pistons). Once you start going high boost, the h22 head tends to lift (blowing headgasket).
Unless you wanna redo the entire motor and switch out to like 1/2" studs, I'd either go bolton turbo, or nitrous.
Also, some people have luck going high boost with the inlinepro headgasket BUT from what I've seen, it's been hit and miss. Some people love it and run like 15-18psi at the track on stock internals, while others fucking hate it.
oh, h22 tranny = weak, sprung hub clutch please.
=)
oh, hydro timing belt tensioner = p.i.t.a. as well, keep the rpm's stock.
