2.5L makes it alot more driveable. Better low end torque.

fugly as fuck.
Hope they have stronger trannies than the previous models.
The front end is pretty damn ugly, but it has grown on me a bit, I don't think the y are the most hidious thing in the world like I originally thought.

I hate the headlights and the stupid rear window-wing-thing-DING!
i like the front, but the rear....
They remind me of a Hyundai Sonata.

personally being in a all subaru family:D 04 wrx.. 05 legacy GT (wifes car)... think that the wrx has come along pretty well.. i like the new look.. and the fact that it comes in more levels now and is actually more affordable than when the wrx was first released in the US... i mean you can get the TR model and get all the amenaties.. minus the wing an heated seats, climate control.. blah blah blah... but you do get better brakes, a 2.5 ltr engine... a bit more performance (its said that its actually putting out more than the under rated 235hp) and costs no more than the wrx did when it was first released. the bugeye is just growin up and becoming a sexy b*tch :D but thats my 2c

I got to drive one a couple weeks ago, and if I could afford it, I would buy one in a heartbeat. The engine feels a lot better than the previous gen, and I think it looks a little better too, it really grows on you.
Just get a Honda.
There is not a Honda even worth having compared to what the WRX offers.

So what does? The TSX can't keep up and its base price is more along the lines of the STi. The TL is about as fast in a straight line and costs nearly 8 grand more. The Accord is a family car. The RSX is FWD and still isn't as fast, nor does it have four doors. There is the S2000 but it costs about as much as an STi and doesn't have the torque of either WRX or the STi. So as far as directly competing they don't have a car, and all the cars that cost in the range of a WRX are slower and FWD.

Stu is right. Honda does not even make a car that you can compare to the performance AND practicality of the WRX

When all you're doing is comparing speed, sure, there isn't much in the price range that can touch a wrx. When you compare luxury, fit and finish, reliability, resale value, creature comforts, etc, pretty much just about any honda past 96 will beat a wrx. And regardless of the price, an NSX is much sexier and probably just as fast if not a bit faster than a stock wrx, regardless of years. And you can get a TSX for 25K, which is quite a bit away from STI price territory.

A TSX is more on par with a regular WRX though in terms of performance, and price.
Don't be a Honda fanboy. They are great cars, but there isnt neccesarily a Honda for every person and every situation.

being a previous owner of a 97 civic dx, 00 civic si, 02 rsx type s, and a 96 tl premium 3.2 i have to say that now that i own 2 subaru's an 04 wrx and an 05 legacy gt... there is no comparison.. the subaru's have passed the honda's in performance and just as much luxury(sp?) contained within them... but thats my 2c an experience talking:)

All of a sudden you care about sexiness and comfort in a performance car? Comfort is not really important to most people here. Come on, you drove a civic.

haha the only good lookin civic in the last 10yrs has been the 99-00 si coupe. the s2000 was good when it came out but now its just a big brother to the miata... the only good looking cars in the honda acura stable until the new si comes out are the nsx.. which needs a facelift.. the TL (performance hindered fwd), and the RL(underpowered awd). and none of those will out perform the sti... now if honda were to go awd on all their platforms and throw some kind of forced induction on there then they might have something going. now the legacy gt, wrx, sti, tribeca... look better than the current honda linup minus the ones that i mentioned.. ;NutKick;

tribeca is fugly... it should end itself, because it's not the beginning of anything but fuglyness. Baja? nuff said there. Sorry, but every honda is better looking than any subaru ever made. Again you talk about performance but hondas win hands down in fit and finish, resale value, luxury, and creature comforts, always have and frankly always will. not everyone cares about your performance. Other than vishnu *laugh* what a fucking joke man.

yeah kinda like puttin a blower on a 1.6ltr sohc civic an callin it performance rite? hahah!! I am guessing you probably drive an element now.. and are looking for some way to figure out how to make it run off of cooking oil. so as to not disturb the ozone... what a joke.. obviously you have not been tracking newer model subaru's as of late? they hold their value extremely well. you sire are a turd.. :) i am sure i have owned more honda's an acura's than you... honda's are nice but not that nice. an acura is a very well valued car and fit an finish is superb. but civic's an accords are put together like mazda's.. nothing above an beyond the subarus.

werd, very truthful statement. i like pretty much all manufactures now adays.. hell even the new hyundai sonata is a sexy car... before i bought my wife the legacy gt we looked at the mazda lineup. and the new hhr from chevy(dont ask) also she liked the 3 an 6.. but after driving them there was no question... they were put together way to cheaply and performance was in the bucket. anyhow... i guess i have flammed enough on this thread... and i do know that this website is a predominantly honda crowd. my roots are with honda i have just found something i like a little bit better. so of course their is gona be some prejudice to other auto's. not sayin all the models are better but there are a few that i prefer to the honda's.

you guessed wrong, and your assumptions are assinine. I have followed the later subarus as I have considered purchasing one or two of them, but I keep going back to IMO better hondas. The resale value and fit and finish still isn't there in late model subarus... accords and civics ARE put together better. I never called a blown 1.6L sohc "performance" but it was fun and unique, and I liked it for a while. As far as hondas owned, who cares? Lets see, 84 accord, 88 accord, 90 accord, 90 prelude, 94 accord, 2000 civic, 2005 pilot, 2005 tsx. so stick your element and cooking oil turd back up your ass where it belongs.

That's not a Honda. It's an Acura, and yes, they are different. Like saying a Camry and an GS400 are the same. The main problem I see with this thread is...he asked about the WRX, and an STI Spec C picture was linked. Completely different, and the latter isn't even available here in the States. I have driven the new WRX, it's a far cry from the STI. My wife also has an S2000. It's impractical, but will outhandle a WRX. A WRX will out-accelerate it(at elevation), but at sea-level it would be neck and neck. Torque or not. WRX>Honda

I just bought an 06 wrx tr. I love the car i test drove an rsx and out of the two the wrx drove nicer, smoother, the interior was laid out better. for the money the wrx is the way to go. Looks are in the eye of the beholder and makes for a weak argument to go on about when the new STI is a pretty bad car and while it's front end didn't appeal to me 5 months ago when I saw preproduction photos but it's grown on me and the white STI looks sweet and for a low $30k don't think there's anything I'd rather own unless it was an EVO MR maybe.

2.5L makes it alot more driveable. Better low end torque.
I can never get over the 2.5L. It loses the rally car appeal when it ignores the displacement limit, and besides, it seems like the cheap way out to stay on top of the Evo.
one of my friends down here just got an 06 STi. its ugly still, but with his color (grey metallic somthing) it actually looks decent. still would pick an MR over it anyday though.

Who cares about the rally limit? You won't be joining any rallies with it, and how could you complain about it being better than the EVO? Good.
