I'm selling my 280z... DAT-SON not KNEE-SON. I really like this car, but need to free up some room as it is my 3rd and I cant find any time to work on it any more. It is a 78, which is the best year of the original 280Z... electronic ignition, internal volatage regulation.. blah blah blah... Anyhoo, as stated this car has a few mods already inlcuding a light weight flywheel, ACT street performance clutch with heavy duty pressure plate, BIG 4 piston calipers in the front with new pads and rotors and bearings and new rear shoes. Also just got a new Master Cylinder. Fancy front spoiler too... rear is not on the car yet and it does have a fiberglass hood! The car also has a full Tokico suspension with 1" drop springs and struts, very firm. Tires have tons of life left and are mounted to really old Enkei rims. NICE tint, just done... limo on the back, 20% on the front. Car also has the 240z wooden steering wheel and "elephant" oil cap. Oh also new rear main seal and oil pan seal.... I think thats it for stuff on the car. Also comes with a extra set of enkeis(same but better condition) with racing slicks(really... not just bald tires) on them and a set of chrome solid wheels. Also comes with a big box of 240Z parts and extra EFI parts here and theres. Also, other then the rear spoiler there's a nice 6-4-2 header and some fiberglass overfenders. Too much stuff to remember theres probably more. This car runs like a CHAMP! I've never had any issues with it at all and IT IS FAST! 'burnout: A great piece of classic Z here. The bady is that it has a bit of rust... not wretched, but present. The rockers are going and on the drivers side there is a small hole in the floor board... On the pass side, the floor is fine, but the frame rail is needing replacing because its soft. Then there's some small holes where the trunk latches. Ohh and this thing is half primered and needing lots of painting love.. Email me for pics of the rustyness. Price is nego. but I dont really WANT to get rid of this car, so it won't budge much. Hell of a deal for all the extra parts and performance stuff you get. Gimmie a call with questions... 720.275.7635 "chicken:

I know its not the prettiest thing ever... far from it in fact, but its a good, solid, fast car that needs an enthusiest lover that will pamper it. If you've driven an old Z and loved it, this car is no exception, its a great running car. ...or if you just need reliable speedy transportation, its that too.

Ok... so maybe not yours. :Peace:
As far as it being a $3k rust bucket... no, its not. If you know anything about old Z's it takes a lot of rust to be a "rust bucket" This one needs some love but its not terminal... in fact the more I think about it the more I want to just keep it and fix the rust and then try and get more out of it. For the amount of money and time already in this car $3k is a good deal, it is a very clean car, the pictures dont do it justice. My buddy has a 77 280Z 2+2 that is a rust bucket... you can see the road through the floor on both sides. Frame rails are a thing of its past. Rocker panels are things of legend to it. You get my drift, mines not that rusty.

The rust on the car isnt THAT bad....Hes just being honest about it. Its getting harder and harder to find old metal like this. Between him and our buddy, they've owned 5zs, and this is the second least rusty one they've had...the least rusty sold for more then hes asking, and didnt run,and needed paint. Guess im just a sucker for the classics...(76 BMW 320i,84 GTI,75 Bug)

Well, I didn't imply that rust was eating through the panels... I'm just surprised that a car that old is worth $3k.

I see what your saying, and honestly I doubt many people do think that... but this is a classic Z and the "best year" of the 280..... As far as old Datsuns go, go look at prices for 510s or even 240 Zs in good shape... VERY expensive for a 25+ year old car.... If my car had no rust at all and a nice paint job I'd expect it to sell for around $7k..... The Z is a cult car, like a old toyota carolla or a Delorean, or an RX7, or a camaro, or a mustang or a ...... you get the idea. My issue with selling it is that this is the worst time of year to sell a high power RWD car and it HAS to go to someone that has an intrest in classic Z cars..... If you think this is pricey, go look up blue book on an old VW bug.

that car will NOT go for $3,000 unless some complete idiot who does not know the value of a Z car buys it..
I bought my car for $3,000 ... and look at it.. it's prestine... and I have put tons of baby mods to it.. oh and it's a 1978 280Z

Fact of the matter is, it might sell for $1,200 ...
don't believe me? check out www.zcar.com or www.classiczcars.com or http://hybridz.org and see what you get
I'm sorry to sound like an asshole man... but i'm just giving you a heads up, you won't get $3,000

Thanks for the links, but I've been to most of them sites... BTW have you looked recently? The first two have what I would consider pretty fair prices and hybridz is very cheap. I dont want to argue with you guys cuz the guy that says "so your right and everyone else is wrong?" will show.... I know my Z is a bit high, but I would exepct to get at least $2500 for mine. You said you baught yours and did some mods later.... I have to say your car is beautiful... Thing about mine is its ugly, but its got quite a few mods into it... ... just about $1500 just in parts only a few hundred miles ago... The car is very solid mechanically... I would drive it to North Carolina tomarrow with no fears of it breaking down. It only has two problems... a touch of rust and paint. I actually put my car on Zcar for a bit and had quite a few offers on it... ones I shoulda taken, but I'm still in love with the car, so I'll just let the insurance lapse and store it till I can afford to pay for it again.... and fix the rust and paint in the mean time. BTW, not to get ot, but I love your idea for the cheap "in dash/glove" DVD setup, very scheak might have to get that for my old Subaru.... Also I have the same header, but mines red.... another thing I havent gotten around to as well as the rear spoiler in the corner of my room.... Reason I want to get as much as I want is the tons of NEW parts in the car, and the tons of extra stuff I have all over the place.... Its a very solid car, and I want what I want because I feel its worth it, if it doesnt sell, ohh well, I'll just keep it and keep fiddlin with it till I'm totally done...
