Well, I know I'm new here, but I was wondering if you guys could help me out. I'm looking for a good place around here (Denver) to do a toyota into toyota swap. What are the best places? I already have one quote, but as always I want to be an infromed shopper. I figure you guys would know best about who is reliable. Thanks.

I have no idea to tell you the truth. Maybe john could help you in this one...

What motor are you swaping in? I have no clue on Toyota codes

Well, the 4afe is a 1.6L 4cyl, and the 3s-gte is a turbocharged 2.0L also 4cyl. The 3s-gte can be found in the All-Trac version of the Celica. I have the ST version of the Celica. Have any recommendations?

Sell your celica ST for either a GTS or an All trac turbo, that swap could be more expensive then getting a new celica.

Well, the problem with that is that the All-Trac is a lot heavier than the ST, because of the AWD. I think if I got the 3sgte it would really utilize the power of the engine being in a lighter car. And I've gotten quotes for less than the cost of an All-Trac.

Yup, all-trac and mr2 have the same 3sgte engine. I think it would be pretty cool if after I do get the swap (if in fact I do get it) I leave the ST logos on the back, people who know the car would be surprised at the power.

Are you gonna make your car all wheel drive when you do the swap? If so isn't that what makes the car so heavy. They had a celica in Super Street a while back, he did the same swap, I'm not sure if he put the all trac's drivetrain in though. You may want to check what he did. Your definitly gonna throw some people off with the ST badges. My DX beat one a while back only by half a car length, pretty even race once we got going. Just make sure your fast enough to run, people are taking racing way too far (guns, fights, stealing cars, etc...):C :bounce:

Ya, I would definitely not get the alltrac drivetrain. If I did I would pretty much just be making a cheap copy of an all-trac, with slight differences. I would be better off just buying an all-trac or jdm gt4. Just not worth it, and that's what would make my car so unique and probably fast.

Hey,
Heres hw all this nifty toyota swaping works...don't get a 3S-GTE (too much money in finding a suitable tranny). Find yourself a 5S-FE and have the internals built to suit your goal HP (under 300 HP leave stock if less than 100k miles). Then buy a MR2 (3S-GTE) turbo manifold (and turbo if you want), 14B turbo (other alternative) used from DSM, 5S-FE tranny (from GT model Celica), 5S-FE ECU, and 3 check valves. Install into ST Celica go tear up Honda's, Toyota's, and DSM's...oh my!
Later,
Dan
P.S. This swap (5S-FE) has greater torque because of the upped displacement (2.2L vs. 2.0 L vs. 1.6L).

Now there is some usable advise.
