We own a 98 honda odyssey. My wife just got home with it, and it sounds like something is screwed up under the valve cover.
The noise is almost like the power steering pump not having enough fluid, but it's coming from the head/valve cover. It follows RPMs.
Power steering reservoir is full. :) The motor has nearly brand new oil, and it's full.
Is it possible for these motors to skip a timing belt tooth or 2? I'm sure that it'd more of a clatter than the 'whining' it's making now it if were valvetrain timing. Maybe.
Anyone got a suggestion? The car is under warranty, so we can take it to Honda on monday, but having it out of commission isn't all that happy right now.
Looking for any input the honda motor smart people might have.
Toby? Eujon? Buehler?
Thanks.
