i got a 95 civic w/ b18c and my transmision locked up the other day, it wouldn't shift out of 2nd, clutch worked fine. just wouldn't come out of gear. so i get it home and start tearing it apart. got the axles out and started to remove the bitch pin from the linkage, i bang it afew times and the transmision pops out of gear, and shifts fine now, WTF? i have no idea why it locked up, has this shit happen to anyone else? any ideas why it would do that?

WTF is a bitch pin? You mean a cotter pin?

Alot of times, aftermarket exhausts sit a bit higher than stock and the shift linkage will hit it and sometimes snag.

The proper name for the "bitch pin" is a spring pin. It connects the shift linkage to the thingie that comes out of the tranny.

Part #28 in this diagram . . .

Hahahah. Yeah, that pin is real fun to get out. But it's not so horrible if you have the right sized pin punch (or a bolt of a similar size).

It's real easy to get in/out with an air hammer and the right bit, that's what I've always used.
