VW anounced their top of the line sport luxury car today ,the Phaeton, at the Geneva auto show. It will be on sale in europe in 2003 and in the states 2004. The base engine will be a 240hp V6, and has an option for a bigger engine, a 12 cylinder engine in a W formation (two vr6 engines connected)and will produce 420hp!

this engine equiped in the vw sport car(still being developed) set 10 land speed records. It is the lightest, most compact 12 cylinder avaliable. Sometime after its introduction a 10 cylinder turbo diesel will come become an option as well. At all four wheels the car will be equiped with air suspension which allows the driver, at the push of a button, to control ride hight. It can be raised 25 mm or lowered up to 15 mm. The car will also lower or raise at certain speeds for better gas consumption.
