ok i lowered my car a while ago and for about the 1st week it drove GREAT!!!! but then i noticed oil dripping out of my car, it was the shocks/struts?? now the car loves to bounce and rock back and forth alot. i have Eibach Pro Kit springs, 1.34 drop. so my question is, what would be a good affordable strut to use. and also where could i buy from other than Ebay? any info would be greatly appreciated.

If you're on a budget, either go with the Tokico blues or the KYB GR-2. If you can spare some change, go wit the KYB AGX. If you're money tree is blossoming, get some Konis. :D

What kind of car you have helps with this too.

I'd say fork up some money and go for the koni's... eibach + koni yellow is a good set up. What's your budget?

i had stock shocks for a long time and the ride was a tad bouncy but it never blew the shocks.

ebay is about the cheapest, unless you know someone with a good hookup... you could check on accord forums and see if anyone's selling a used set.

which ones are blown? you should be able to tell by looking at it.

well i know that when you are outside the car and pushing on the back end, its supposed to come up and settle and a couple of pushes, mine bounces like3-4 more times before it settles, same with the front.

hmm... well, if you don't feel like forking up for koni yellows, see if you can find some new/slightly used stock struts. the stocks shouldn't be shot just cuz you lowered it a little, especially with eibach sports. unless you didn't like the set up you had, that's the cheapest/most reasonable route to go.

Koni Sports (the yellow ones) are on the expensive side, I paid $365 for my current set new, but they are great performers and I've only had 1 problem with a set in the past 15 years, and those were immediately replaced with new ones from Koni (and I broke them through my own stupidity!). So sell a kidney and get the Koni's. I found a distributor through ebay, then e-mailed him outside of ebay and saved a few bucks.

how many miles are on your accord? if i remember correctly, the stock shocks/struts were good up to a .75 inch drop, anything more then that and they are likely to blow. of coarse mileage and off roading excursions expedite the likely hood of them blowing out as well

I dunno about that Steve. My bro's '03 TL-S, basically an Accord, had H&R springs (1.5"~drop) on stock struts for 15k+ miles, and when he replaced 'em with tein ss, the stock struts looked just fine.

And my bro drives like a jackass.

just remember reading that on the accord forum. that was one of the cons listed for just buying springs instead of a full coilover system. i'm still kicking myself for not jumping in on the tein ss groupbuy 2 summers ago when it was 575 shipped. now every jackass wants atleast 750 for them

One piece of advice for anyone considering springs or shocks or springs&struts... get them at the same time... you will save yourself time and money. What do I mean you ask? For example, If you bought springs and had them installed with stock shocks, and you knew or thought there was a possibility that you would replace the shocks later, why don't you wait to buy/install the springs and shocks together. Doesn't that seem like uncommon sense?

But I LIKE working on my car, so I ordered mine separately:)

Well, we all know getting a full coilover set is better than just lowering springs... but, I don't see the need to get struts at the same time. Why? Because I'd like to see what the ride will be like just with the springs - if I'm happy with it, then I'll wait til the stock struts fail before replacing 'em. If I don't like the way it rides, then I might even ditch the lowering springs for coilovers.

I dunno about others, but I'd like to have my options open.... cuz I find my bro's tein ss set up, even with the edfc, a bit rough for my taste.

well they cost a little over $300. and my car now has 116K on it, so i will have new struts come next week. and i didnt get struts at first because the first couple weeks the car drove fine, then it all went bad, and im just now gettin around to buy struts.

i have kyb agx's w/ rs-r hard springs and it seems to handle them fine. I had the rs-r's on stock struts also. felt like crap and blew out next day. you'll feel a total difference with new struts.
