heh I noticed that too, in anycase. Back to the topic at hand, where to go for lunch? What Resturaunt in what City?
If we're gonna go to Second Creek, we should probobly make it no further south than Castle Rock. Bandimere (as said) isn't open yet. I don't know about PPIR, Beacon Hill (which I don't know anything about anyway), or Pueblo Motorsports Park and if they're open for T&T's or not. I know Pueblo is more expensive than Second Creek too. Input folks :)

Bandimere's not a track, it's a strip. A track has turns. :D I was thinking Second Creek.
You can definitely cook out at any road course I've ever been too. I've even seen people cooking out up in the pits at Bandimere too.
As far as cleaning up, I'll bring my 2.5 gallon camping jug full of water to wash up with. Shouldn't be a problem.

I have cooked out at Bandi before and didn't have any problems. As long as your not trying to light a fire next to the fuel house or somehow you manage to get a flaming charcoal in your gas tank I really don't see what the issue would be.

So:

day: Sunday March 10th or Sunday March 17th?

If you make it a pot luck and have all of the atendees sign up to bring a dish or a drink or utencils it will be way more organized. newt has already signed up to cook;) If I make it (depends on what day) i will bring a tent and a cooler full of sodas and water.
There is only one Sunday I can make it in March and thats the 10th. Even then it wont be until after 12. But there should be a vote or a poll on the date. Just a few suggestions from someone who has organized a few events and had his share of screwed up meetings.;)

It is normally $60 for a day of T&T, other tracks just cost more I believe. However I'll ask him if you have to pay if you're not going to run, it'll certantly make more people show up just for the BBQ if they don't have to dish out $60 for it, especially if they don't want to take runs. I'll also ask about group discounts, maybe if we can guarantee 10 or even 20 cars or something maybe he'll drop it to $50 or $40, or even in half, I dunno.

I'd run for 40 or 50.
newt2
03-01-2002, 09:24 AM
$60 isn't that much. You get to drive as fast as you want for as long as you want. AN IDRC event at Bandimere costs $50 (might be $75+ this year because it's a two day event), and if you win the whole thing you get about 2 minutes of time behind the wheel, maybe three if you have a slow car. In contrast a lapping day at PPIR is going to run you upwards of $200.
We're not going to be racing, so if you think your car can't keep up don't worry about it. I'll probably be getting my butt kicked by people with "slower" cars. Just treat it like a nice brisk drive in the mountains with no cops. If someone's on your ass, let them by.
It's free to watch, I'm 95% sure of that.

Who cares! You like to go for nice spins in the mountains right? Same thing, just no cops. Like I said, it's not a competition. We're just running laps to have fun.
You should at least come out for the BBQ. That way if you get the urge while you're there you can run.

No race tires for me yet, but I do have a 6 month old set of Yok A520's that have only been used for a couple of track events.
newt2, I think I will avoid a wager when it comes to the 1/4 mile event against your Type R.
As for 2nd Creek, I agree it will come down to driver skills for best lap time. I have only ran there once and I found it pretty hard to get traction coming out of some of the corners. Thats why the current upgrade.
As for my car it is still in The Mazda Honda shop (yes I own a Toyota but I trust the mechanics there and they were willing to work on my car). The brain dead parts guy at John Elway Toyota ordered the wrong bearings and seals for the LSD upgrade so now my car is sitting on a lift and my transmission is spread all over a work table. After looking at the array of pieces I am certain I would not want to tackle this job in my garage. If lucky my car will be ready Wednesday.
Hope next Sunday is warmer and less snow covered than today.

Anyone know if you need to skip that if you're not going to run and just drive into the padlock or whatever area or do you have to checkin anyway?

Yes, you still have to check in. On the sign in sheet, you have to state if you are spectating or racing. If he's not in the house, just sign in and he'll eventually come up to you to make sure you signed in.

Come for the food, stay for the skids! :P
You should try putting the address I put up on the original post (http://www.haiparts.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?s=&threadid=3313) and putting it into mapquest, on the map page there's a "get directions to this location" button you can use.
If you're too lazy to that, basically just head north or south (depending on where you're coming from) on I-25 and get off on 88th ave and head east for a long time I think. After one sharp curve it's between that and another, it's kinda hard to miss, tho the track itself can be hard to see. If you reach tower rd. (I think) you've gone to far, turn around, it's at the corner of a sharp turn on 88th, the entrance is on the southside I believe by the house :)
And the final date and time is 12:00pm Sunday March 10th, we never discussed the time, but no one objected to starting at that time. Tobi said he won't be able to get there until after 12, and Generic said he'd be there at 3:30. So there shouldn't be a prob hopefully.

I'll try and make it, probably won't be able to run because my registration is due on all 3 of my cars so I'll be poor.

Update about the track: I called the track back today, I didn't get to talk to anyone about discounts or anything but the message on the machine did say they were open on the 10th for practice (which I'm assuming is the same thing as Test&Tune as the message didn't mention anything else) however they are closed all next week thru the 17th, so good thing we picked the 10th and not the 17th :)
I'll try calling back again tommorrow about discounts. It is free to whoever isn't going to run if anyone's still wondering.

if anyone needs to know how to get there, try using mapquest or asking, but double or tripple check it cause I now know three ways to get there, and I'm sure two of them work. Here's the ways I know so far:
C-470/E-470 to Pena (470 is a toll road, it'll be like five dollars in change to take it)
Pena to Tower
Tower to 88
I-25 to 88
I-25 to I-225
I-225 to I-70
I-70 to Pena
Pena to Tower
Tower to 88
so make sure you're sure of which way you're going. I have a cell phone if you want my number incase you get lost or something msg or email me and I'll give ya the number.

Well looks like no track time for me.
My car is still in the shop and will not be finished until Monday. I was looking forward to trying out the new setup on the track and seeing you guys, but it looks like I am going to have wait until the next event.
Weather looks like it is going to be great. And even though I will not be there I suggest that anyone on the fence about taking their cars on the track do so. It is more fun than any amusement ride.

You shouldn't hurt your car in anyway unless you're a really bad driver ;) Once you see it you'll realize it's a lot less extreme than you might think, you're not likely to ruin your clutch, brakes, or tires unless you try to race someone into the guy's house :D
Make no mistake, it's still extremly fun :)

Well..it sure doesnt look to me like the track is going to be in any condition to race on tommrow. We'd have to see some pretty amazing heat wave to get all the snow and shit melted off today, I just cant see it happening on a track that wont get the attention of a real road.
Anyone interested in maybe a late lunch or dinner somewhere? I work REALLY early tommrow..if it was after like 2 or something I could prolly make it. Or does anyone think the track might be in condition to drive on?

I'm still going for sure. I was out on the gixxer today and the streets are pretty much snow free. Since there's no shade over the track I imagine it's pretty much the same. I can't decide between taking the bike or my car again, but I'll be there for sure. Anyone who wants to do a dinner or anything fun (central city!) afterword should give me a holler. I'll be there all day.

Yeah..I didnt get a chance to run out there today. (its too damn dark out) but it did melt almost everything off around here today so I think it should be good to go. I'd offer to run out there in the morning and verify it..but I have to work at 6am so there is no WAY I'm heading over there before that.
Guess we can hope for the best..I'll be headed out there after I can escape from work..so I'll be out there about 3pm (hopefully)

Hey all, just got back from checking out the track.
My report:
No one was at the track (I tried knocking on all the doors I could find) tho it was suppose to be open.
There's no snow on the track, it's not even wet.
There's patches of snow off the sides of the track in the dirt.
The "grid" is very wet and still snowy, but that shouldn't be a problem.
Sunday's weather forecast is: Partly Cloudy, High 59, Low 30
Hope to see ya there!

Been a tough day, fucked up the car, and got a speeding ticket on the way home (I know I'm dumb, but it's kinda ironic as seeing how much crap we got away with in westminster after dinner... I don't see me keeping my license tho, they're totaling 30pts now.)

geesh man..ya know the difference between us speeding around in Westy and hauling ass out on the highway is that everyone speeds in Denver. You dont really stand out that much when you are going 10 over here. We were also in a group of cars as well..not a lot to save you when you are out on the highway.
Anyway, I was glad I made it out there..even if I had to work the evil shift from hell to make it happen. Fun stuff at that track.

Exorcism agreed to let us all come over and kick his ass. That will be our event in April, and I'll set it up at Bandimere at the first Test & Tune on the 13th. We'll have him displayed at the HAI parking spot with his ass hanging out of one of those wooden cutouts. Bring your paddles, bring your feet, flyswatters, anything. We'll get a day of racing in and ASS KICKING!!! Hope you can all make it!! :D
