Yes there are a great deal of imports out here, just a lot of racing period! With Bandimere here in town, almost everybody that is in their teens, 20's, 30's runs their car. If you are running 11's out there in Iowa, don't expect to do the same out here.

Welcome to the boards.

Are you coming to race? Moving out here? Visiting?

What is the altitude at IOWA???

02-21-2002, 12:46 PM
well i am just coming up to visit my uncle for about a month. so it will give me some great time to get to know people and race some cars. well when i come out there i am planing on raiseing my boost to 25 psi to help make up for the altt. in CO. the altt. in iowa is 1291ft above sea level. i dontknow what you are but it is like a mile up man.

Denver ranges from 5000-6000 feet. The actual drag strip sits at 5800. 25PSI? good lord!

Bandimere is just over 5800ft asl.
I think an 11 up here might be a bit elusive. Locally there has been only 1 DSM in the 11s and that was a stripped out Laser but three others ran 12 flats.
I think you have a realistic shot at a 12.4 but maybe you'll prove me wrong.:)

I guess I should ask about your mods....so?

02-21-2002, 12:53 PM
yes good lord indead:eek: that is what heppens when i step on the gas, lol. i hope to get to 28psi this late summer if i get a fuel managment system for my car, btu then it will not be a daily as much. but i dont know yet damn MAS is my car if i take it out will help alot but also hurt my daily driver. ahhhhhh the hard stuff in life, hahaha. so Tsunami what kind of car do you drive, and what have you done to it. oh and righ tnow i am boosting at 20-22 psi depending how much i hate teh person, LOL.

Cool! How's the car setup if you are running 11s at less than 25psi? The quickest I could get my 25psi 20g-based '93 GSX was 12.1 up here in the clouds...

Man,you got some $$$ in your car. Can't wait to take a ride in it.

I'm still running stock block with 107k on it. I'm hoping to boost at least 20psi and see what the Pocketlogger tells me and work from there.

I am on TDY till April 15th. I get to go to Utah for the first race of the season the weekend I get back. Hopefully with the new motor! I can't wait to boost again. This toyota sure is lame.

Hes also running 9.1 compression, so that will make some more power too. I cant wait to get racing with you guys. My B16g should be here in a couple weeks, and then i should be good.
The only problem with my set up is i have the stock exhaust. My old turbo took a crap so i had to spend my exhuast money on a turbo and evo mani.

Oh, Heres my take on TFATF quote. I thing when he said "not a bad way to spend $10000", He meant one the whole set up. I watched that part a few time and i think thats what was suppose to be meant.

John's block was stock when he ran the 12.1 at 25psi on the 20g. As I'm sure John will tell you, it is all in the tuning.

Didn't his compression suck as well?
I'll just be happy if I can run 21psi safely.

John had a very stock looking (minus the exhaust) silver '93 Eclipse running a 20g. I've seen the video of his 12.1 1/4 mile. There's nothing like a AWD DSM launching on the strip.

96TSI
02-22-2002, 06:18 PM
well, hell yea you can launch a awd from about 5-6 grand man, and blow just about anything off teh line man. i launch that high, but i ease the clutch out so i dont kill my tranny man. and my center diff yes my 60' suffers. but hey i dont have to rebuild my tranny or diff, heheeh. what does he run on the street with that car, and what does he boost at too?? my friend has a mildly moded 99 gsx that does 12.45 at the track but on the street it is high 12's low 13's. but still sweet ass ride it wounds like.

still cant wait to come out to CO and yes V8spankR you can ride in it and mybe drive it

He actually sold the car a couple of years ago but now he drives the low 11s Supra that I had mentioned over on dsmtalk. Pretty bad car and doesn't have tranny issues, just traction ones.;)

Can't wait to see that car come out and run. I just got done rebuilding mine after a little oil incident  last year. Best its ever run is a 12.6@113 on a FP Red model and a stock engine.

This winter we put in some crower rods, ross rings and pistons. The car is running quite a bit better but I still have about 600 miles left to break it in.

96TSI,

You got any time slips or video of your car? I know one of the few (only 1, maybe 2 that I know off) 11 second DSM's in Iowa, and its not a 96.......

I grew up in Iowa, where abouts you at there? Back when I lived there, I think there was a total of 5 guys in Iowa that were part of the Midwest DSM.

Hey 96TSI,do you know where Storm Lake is? My mom grew up there and my dad is from the nearby wee town of Sac City. I lived in SL for the first 5 years of my life back in the 70s.

93 gsx, 7 bolt, small rods. Compression was down to aroun 110 across teh board - 105k miles on the motor, 25psi on the 20g. Buschur & Glazer both suggested that 28psi on the stock 7bolt was doable with the flow a 20g could do. Since the profec B and 12 lb spring in the wastegate didn't play well together, 25psi was all I could get out of it w/the profec.

http://jsalmi.com/bandimere/101399/therace.ram <-- real player video, silver dsm in the far lane.

It's all in the tuning. :) The car would have gone more but I ran the stock fuel line out of capacity, and didn't have the hallman on it.

And I ran that 25psi every day, just took it to the track once in awhile to see how it'd do.
