how the heck do u use this thing. It looks like it only accepts gmail accounts, but when you add a friend it uses your contact list and subsequently people w/ different email accounts from different providers. hmm

Anyhow, I'm "justin.silva@gmail.com" for whomever wants to add me

Dammit, another IM client to manage. I currently use GAIM which handles AIM/ICQ, MSN and Yahoo. That's about enough for me.

Yup. Anything that supports Jabber can support all of the protocols. I've tried Adium, but I settle for iChat on the AIM protocol because most folks I know are on AIM.

gAIM is nice, but it's somewhat lacking. One of these days, I'll get off my ass and modify the source code for myself to make it not suck...

yeah, i had that in plans as well. one thing that specifically bothers me (and probably is irrelevant to most of you) is the way gaim handles other languages :)

Well, I did try to paste some Russian into it once for some reason, but it crashed the whole app. That was fixed in later versions of gAIM, but it still sucks... it just doesn't crash now.

A feature I'd like to add is the ability to see who is "ghosting" (ie invisible) on AIM. I already know how to manually find out if someone is, so I'd just need to code that in...

i'm using it mostly under windows, and i'd like to get some interface improvements as well. and also one-step setting of invisible and N/A mode for all accounts, not just one lame "away" message

Me too. You can configure the away message, but the invisibility is annoying... it doesn't tell you when you are invisible.

Can you fix it so I can send David pictures? He uses Gaim and I don't and it won't let me send pictures.
