tobi, i was wondering if you could help me with somthing. i have come to the conclusion that no matter what honda product i buy (except the prelude and perhaps the S2k) honda doesnt put enough brakes on their cars. i am sick and tired of having to get rotors turned or replaced all the time on cars due to them warping. we try to be vary carefull with the way we brake on both our cars. trying to brake in stages rather than ride the brakes all the way to a stop and down hill for example. anyway i have been meaning to turn the rotors on the pilot for about a couple months. now my TSX needs it again.
can you give me some advise as to where to purchase a used or inexpensive brake lathe?
what do they run? im beginning to think that of the number of times i have had to pay for this service and the time it takes to remove the rotors and wait an hour for them to be turned would be a lot of time and energy saved if i could do it at home. not only that occasionally i need to help a friend with a brake job.
do you have an old one you might be willing to sell? im sure you have one now, would you like to sell it and upgrade? can i buy one new or used for a reasonable price? obviously i dont want to spend a lot of money as i dont think ill be using it that often but it would be nice to have my own.

My brake lathe was purchased from Honda's special tool program and was around $3500 plus accessories. You can get them for less than $2k on EBAY.
But you may be buying a junker. Many shops wear them out and if there are several mechanics using the same tool they may be not cared for like they should be.
