Depends on if you do anything else with it and what model CRX you start with. If you have an Si, it will be the cheapest. I would say about $2300 or so to do the full swap with nothing really extra. Good luck. It is a whole lot of fun.

you should go to one of the CRX or B16 forums. Im sure they have them somewhere. I was planning on doing this and i found a site that had the Engine, wireharness, tranny, axles, and motor mounts for about $1600. I found it from a honda site i think. Just look around, spend countless hours on the web and you get it figured out after a while.

I do have a b16 and a turbo... It depends on the size turbo you go with, and the motor mounts. If you use a big turbo, you can just get a 92+ radiator in order to make it all fit. Good luck.

you can get a b16 anywhere from 1000-2000 with most everything you need. It all depends on what gen it is and if its USDM or JDM. But of course you already know this because I talked to you. Also you CAN turbo a b16 like the other guy said.

just to add a little more.
first I'd check out hybrid.honda-perf.org
if you need any more info lemme know, I've got all the wiring info written down at my house.
I'd suggest using the hcp mount kit as well. sets the motor a little bit back, uses a fourth mount up front which pretty much nobody else does, and their ef package is super cheap compared to most places, like around $400 for mounts and shift linkage.
also, do it yourself, that's where a large amount of the money for the swap would go.

Good suggestion except for the fact that he as well as most people dont have the tools to do this. As far as I know. Its not some easy two hour swap. but he is right, if you do have the knowledge/tools/time/place to do it it will save you some cash.

ahh an engine swap isnt all that bad. Isaiah did his in a day. If you have some know how you can do it, if not it is better left to someone who knows what they are doing.

I did my swap in I think about 8 1/2 hrs......most of the time was by myself, ted and chris dropped by for the last hour or so. Also I have a very limited supply of tools, nothing a 129 piece blue light special tool kit won't handle, also a hammer, and ball joint separator. I will say that I could have done it faster, but I wanted to make sure everything was done right the first time.

how did you guys get the engine in? cherry pickers? Ive also heard of putting the engine on a dolly like thing then using jacks to raise the front of the car as high as you can then like use cynder blocks to hold it, then roll the engine under and drop the car back down.

Check the for sale forum if you want a CRX that needs no body work. It's a 91 Si 5Spd. It's in Westy, so if you wanted to go and look at it, let me know.

If your looking for a B16A for cheap you may want to check out www.nippon-motors.com. I was going to order one myself but found a good deal. If you need anyone to drop it in, I have some friends that have done swaps before.

I've always used a cherry picker, my friend has one. If you don't, a lot of places rent them by the day for cheap or some even free.
I know hasport, and honda put the motors in from the bottom, but it would be a pain in the ass I think without a lift.

As far as putting a motor in, it's not bad at all if you do your research and take your time. I've never taken a mechanics class or done any real work like that. the ef swaps are pretty hard compared to an eg, but still not bad. wiring scares everyone, but if you can count and solder you can handle it.
only way to learn is by doing it right?
then you can go out and charge people $500 to do it in their car =)

diy bro saves mad money you if you don't want to put it in it's about 500-600 labor...1st gen b16a around $1200 shipped if you pay more you're getting ripped off, get hcp mount kit more room for turbo that's like another 250-400 depending on how hooked up you are, wiring isn't too bad,
if you got si you're straight just need to wire in the vtec and something else i always forget

dx you need injector resistor box from si (going from dual point to multi point injection) and then wire in extra injectors vtec yadda yadda yadda, dont use place racing mount kit, i did and motor sits too far forward for turbo compared to hcp, not too sure on hasport seen it once and had some nice room also

buddy of mine checked recently and a b16a is sitting a speed demons in the springs for $1200 you may want to pick it up he says it looked clean and the motor supposed to have 35k or less mileage on it, DON'T forget to change the axle seals to del sol vtec, unless you want an oil leak
