I stopped at a light down on south Wads and low and behold an SS pulls up along side.
I sat patiently and as the moment of truth approached I brought my revs up to around 5500 and figured this is worth a full drag launch because I know the SS can pull once they get traction.
Light turns green and instantly I put 4 car lenghts on 'em (AWD,gotta love it) and by second I was still holding at 4 and then into 3rd he pulled to about 3 cars away and then 4th he pulled even and we were at 115mph but we had gone longer than a 1/4 mile.
The next light turned red and I pulled up and looked over and it was a friend of mine. He got the SS back in December and hadn't seen it him since he got it. I told him that was pretty sweet race and we should go from a roll and see what happens.
Running from a roll does show the horsepower difference,we were at about 20mph and he signaled to go and I stayed with him (maybe had a nose on 'em) for till most of 3rd gear then he just immediatly jumped just over a car length on me and I just couldn't get it back. Then we pulled into a gas station and chatted for awhile and got to check the car out up close.
Yes,the SS is a pretty nice car and I love that new car smell.
I'm gonna race him again when I put my fuel pump in and bump up the boost a few pounds. I do need about 50 more horses.

Good run!!

I've got a pal with a '02 SS that'll be glad to run you once you're ready; (and it'd be funny to watch you beat him also).

His best run at Bandimere was a 14.3 @ 100.

That sounds like a good race for me..... Maybe when I get back?

You like doggin' the Chevy guys don't cha'? ;)

I'm ready now as the car sits. I ran 14.0-14.2s the majority of the time last season and that was on the the small 16G turbo. I think with just the 18G and the car better tuned now I could go out and run a 13.8 at Bandi tomorrow. Too bad we still got 2 months to go.

Yep.the SS was stock and only had 2800 on the odo.

Gimme time to get my FMIC and some tuning time and we'll see about your WS6. How about we try a autox too?:)

Sure why not? I have an upgraded suspension too... - Although, I might need to upgrade my driving skills for an autox... :o

Have you raced your car at Bandi or just PMI?
With my current setup with 550cc injectors and 21psi I should hopefully hit a 13 flat. The bigger IC and 117octane should push me solidly in to the 12s. I just hope my tranny can corral my new ponies.;)

Yes,you should hit a autox at least once, definetly a different mix of characters when compared to the Bandi crowd.

I'm not racing you, if you can beat an SS...not even worth my time :) Granted I've never raced an SS, but my STS runs mid 14's stock at sea level...this ain't sea level!

Tsunami,it might be interesting if we race from a roll though.

Ernest----I think I wanna shot atcha now too!! :p

I remember what you ran last year up at Bandimere, and I was slower. But now that the Stang's in for some more mods, I think I'll have a good chance.

It won't be for about a month or so, though....whaddya say?? :)

racing from a roll would make it a little closer, but with your AWD, and your apparent 14 second 1/4 mile times, I'd be in deep trouble :)

AWD is only an advantage on the starting line then the engine has to use more horses just to turn all the extra weight of the AWD system, that's why most of the FWD crowd wants to race from a roll to prove they have more power. I still think once the STS gets moving it probably has a rock solid 150mph top end.

I have raced both, but got the 12.6 at Bandi with blowing the clutch on the run. ;)

With my T-Trim...I hope to be in the 11's...
