ok, now i have a 1997 240sx and i was wondering if it was possible that i could put a 1999 gt-r r33 rb26dett 4 wheel drive engine in it. because that was my dream forever to do that. now i just wanna know is it possible and if it is does it cost a-lot of money. which i know it will cost a-lot of money to convert it
but can i convert the skyline engine to a rear wheel drive engine. i dont want a rb25det engine cause that isnt 6-speed so can someone help me that knows about the awd skyline.
:Peace: :king:

Yes you can. Joule could probably do it. 9second racing did it already and there are couple of other companies as well. Its not worth the money. GO with SR20DET black top and be happy.

not worth the time or headache, and we all know it's going to be alot of money already. you can get the rb26 to fit into the engine bay of the 240 only if your willing to basically hack up your bay. your also going to need to replace the drive shaft and other components of the drive train to accomadate the engine. BTW, the 1999 r33 gtr's did not come with a 6 speed tranny, that was only available with the r34 which received the getrag 6 speed.
in all honesty, if you have to ask how much it costs, you most likely won't be able to afford it.
p.s. noticed you were in VA, so asking a colorado board isn't going to help you much. you'd probably have more luck going on a silvia board

As Weston says, the RB motors are ricer-hyped overpriced bricks. Especially trying to import an R34 front clip. Probably cost you 14 grand to import and have installed. Plus you can't use the 6-spd since its an AWD tranny and the 240 is RWD. So your whole swap is pointless.

RB26Dett swaps are pretty comprable to a Type R swap in motor price now I have know idea how much it would be or what kind of work it would take to install. I have some friends that have done some pretty crazy swaps. A 2ND gen RX-7 with a LT-1 boosted and a 87-89 Supra with a 2Jz in it. I think if you want to do it and can afford it then go for it but like someone said 1. You are asking the wrong forum 2. If you have to ask then you proably can't afford it.

That's not an R34 front clip and there's no 6 speed tranny there. Both appear to be the R32 engine which was a 5 spd. R34 stuff is so new it'll be good and pricey. Also, the 26 is a much harder swap to perform because its larger. Plus if you want to use the RB26 you have to buy an RB25 tranny because all of the RB26 trannies are AWD and the cost and time to convert a 240 to AWD with the Skyline setup would be very prohibitive.

my freind has a 91 240 with a RB25 in it, joule did it, and it was the first one they have ever done. go to www.mckinneymotosports.com to find everything out, they make installation kits. everybody else is correct though you cannot use the 6 spd unless you do awd which would cost alot more money you will need the RB25 transmission and the oil pan. The RB26 is not larger than the 25 but its harder to put in because of the twin turbos. it would be easier to do the 25 and it would cost less. if you did the 25 swap and you had someone else do it, it would probably be around 5-6k. dont take my word for it, but i think thats around what it cost my buddy. it is cheaper and easier to do the SR20 but its all your preference

First off the guy said a r33 but either way I couldn't tell you much about it just I always wanted a RB26 in an old school datsun.
