Ok so lately I've been hearing guys call their civics- EGs, EKs, EFs, and stuff like that. What does that mean. And also what would you call a crx?

It's the chassis code. Such as EG is the 92-95 Civic hatch. An 88-91 CRX is an EF, a 92-95 Civic coupe is an EJ, an EK is a 99-01 Civic hatch and so on. I don't know em all cause I'm not a hardcore Civic guy.

You ricers... it's not really a "chassis code"... For example, the GS-R and RS/LS/GS share the same chassis, except for the drivetrain and a couple of small differences; the GS-R is DC2 and the RS/LS/GS is DC4. The Type-R is a pretty big difference from all of the other Integra models, but it is still called DC2 for whatever reason. The difference between the Type-R (DC2) and the GS-R (DC2) is much much larger than the difference between the GS-R (DC2) and the RS/LS/GS (DC4).

I was almost certain that the DC4 was just the four door teg...you're probably right...and thats why the 4dr gsr is called a DB8? what are the other 4dr tegs?

Here this might help you understand. It is my secret honda chassis code decoder ring. It doesnt have acuras and some of the older Honda codes but you will get the picture of how the chassis code can be the same for some cars and not others.

I always wanted to see that, thanks Tobi!

i always thought that they changed it from dc2 in 94-95, to dc4 in 96-01? maybe im wrong though.

DB7: 4dr B18B (RS/LS/GS)
DB8: 4dr B18C (GS-R)
DC4: 2dr B18B (RS/LS/GS)
DC2: 2dr B18C (can be GS-R [B18C1] or Type-R [B18C5])
The Type-R is identified as JH4DC231xxxxxxxxx.

OBD-II came in '96, but the "chassis codes" remained the same.
